I didn't see this mentioned yet, so I'll post it here; a Steam news post on the new Red Death factions.

Red Death - Season 2 comes to Civilization VI on PC via the free June 2020 Game Update, available this Thursday, June 25 at 10am PT.

Here's a summary of all of the faction abilities, including the new ones for the existing factions:

Not strictly about the two new factions, but at least about Red Death (so only a halve thread highjack):
I faintly remember of having read, that some AI was or will be added to Red Death, making it playable as single-player scenario. Does this memory deceive me or is it correct?

All this sounds quite fun, but I am not exactly a multi-player kind of person.

there should be an update of the Red Death AI with the patch, that has also started in the previous patch.

but I don't remember if they have said it will now be "officially" supported as a MP and SP scenario in the setup screen

Ah, okay, thank you for your answer, Godemon!
I guess, it's wait and see, then. I will give it at least a try.

I have played a single player version of red death. It is not officially supported, but when there are no human participants that join the match, they all just get filled in by AI. That said, it just kind of stumbled around the map. Definitely seemed to be more of a placeholder than an official SP version of the scenario.

So, I've played one game each with both Zombies and Aliens, but I haven't yet encountered the Alien saucer.

Has anyone seen one of these? Perhaps a special unit randomly awarded from searching a city or camp?
I think it's supposed to be the Alien helicopter

That would make sense.

The standard mechanic of finding more "civilians" in cities sort of makes sense for the Aliens (they were undercover, right?), but it doesn't make much sense to find new Brains in a Jar in cities for the Zombies. It think it would have made more sense to have the Zombie "civilian" be unique, not only from faction lore point of view, but also kind of from a balance point of view, since the Zombies seem insanely powerful. Unit decay can be removed with one promotion, and the new compound unit promotion rule means it's extremely easy to get a Zombie army with 3 promotions with extra strength, extra movement, and no decay. They can't heal normally, but that's of little consequence in a scenario in which you have to keep moving anyway. Captured or found civilians could just turn into more Zombie Hordes.

I've not tried out the new factions yet, but are they much more complicated to play than the other Red Death factions?

Also, who would have thought when Civ VI was released that a future patch would add stuff to a post-apocalyptic scenario? :D

Good to know! Is it possible to play the simpler Red Death 1 as well?

I don't think so. I didn't see it as an option.

You can play a multiplayer game by yourself against AI opponents (just host a game yourself, and make it private). It's relatively easy; the AI still doesn't play the scenario very well.
