New leaderheads

I personally have nothing wrong with 2D pictures as a player, but would indeed be a retrograde step for the casual player

2D leaderheads are a great way to add many more leaders for games that it. RFC doesn't really need it, since the civilization choice is far more important than the leader choice, unlike most Civ 4 mods.

I don't mind having Static Leaderheads in RFC,I'd do that in my mod if I had 1.

2D leaderheads does seem like a step backwards at first glance. But the ones in FFH are very striking (I think it's the music). If it would allow Rhye to add lots more leaders I would be all for it. Might also speed things up for some players too.

You can effectively add more leaders by creating new leaderhead files that use existing graphics. That way, you can change AI personalities through time. It's a change I would recommend for RFC if I could think of an appropriate use.

It must be said that FFH2 is an environment which is more conducive to 2D leaderheads, i.e. it needs fantasy art, unlike RFC which is pretty much 90% Firaxis assets and 10% custom assets.

I would like to second that! You could for example give Germany or France a ultra-aggressive leader for a short time (napoleonic, ww2). The options are kind of unlimited.

Good idea! To be honest if I was Rhye I wouldn't use leaderheads at all, just a flag appropriate to the time period and change the name and personalities to represent leaders and governments every so often according to time period or civic choice. That way you could effectively have unlimitted leaders.

I don't like just having flags. I've seen it done (World War I, Battle for East Asia, some civs in Road to War) and it just doesn't feel right.

Personally I like the Firaxis leaderheads. If we were to have the leader change happen based on actual generation lengths, we would run out of leaders long before we had all that were needed.

Flags also change regularly, or don't exist for early civs. Tricolour ou fleur-de-lis, monsieur?

The Meiji leaderhead is fine. I don't think RFC needs flags or 2D leaderheads, it's fine like it is.
I can't wait until I get to use Meiji-tennou.

No offence, Ekmek, but I think that you've quite improved since last year. I'm including Alexander, which is a superb work I've been requesting since 2005.

I think I'm not adding neither Meiji or Philip to the new patch instead. The former would ship with half of his animations, the latter has a wierd collar. Cleopatra's crown and textures are unsatisfying.
Unless they are improved by any graphics modder (maybe you, ekmek, can do something about it?), they can for now fit an optional leader-pack (which could include then some modern ones too: Hitler, Franco, Lenin, Hirohito, the Ethiopian one)
