new patch is out #303

Anyone knows if this will render Solver's unofficial patch useless or affect it in anyway?

From what I'm hearing, yes and no. The patch overwrites it, but you merely have to reinstall the unofficial patch and your back in business.

I take it you mean:

I have to admit I'm a little baffled by the sheer pointlessness of this patch. There's nothing important in it, so why not just leave this stuff until we get the patch for all the gameplay stuff?

Here's a combat graphics bug that appeared just after the patch was applied:

It doesn't appear to really fix anything vital, so if you haven't downloaded the patch yet, you might want to just hang tight until the next one is available. I got mine from D2D and, unfortunately, that version started at 3.02, so I don't think there's a patch available to revert back to 3.02 for that one (other than just doing a fresh install).

As posted here they apparently have the real patch delayed and decided to just release a patch with the DirectX update (that most people did not need :crazyeye:)

But those people that DID need this DX update and didn't know it (i.e. not forumers) would need it to even play the game. IMO there would be no worse fate than actually hOldIng bts In yOUr hAnds and not being able to play it! For this reason, for those poor, poor non-forumers, I'm glad Firaxis released this patch so quick. No-one should have to deal with not being able to play BtS. NO-ONE.

It is nice to hear that an actual bug-fixing patch is in the works. I won't be installing this one as 3.02 seems to be working fine for me and 3.03 apparently causes new problems (Civilopedia links causing CTDs).

Guys, is this patch compatable with the other patches? I just downloaded and i'm playing a couple of SG's and i'm afraid i'll haveto let those SG players down my game will not be compatable with theres...

This patch is great it fixes a lot of version problems, we dont see that many *MOD* users now...

Ok, I'm done waiting for a patch. Who can I email or what phone number can I call to attempt to get my money back? The game is broken at the way I want to play it and I haven't touched the box since I bought it.

Heh, thanks for posting that. I needed the laugh =)

Do you really want them to put out a quick patch after only two weeks? It took them months to make the game, after all. A million players do more gametesting with their combined hours of play than a playtesting team can during the project. Now, I'm not saying we didn't find an inordinant number of problems, but to me the sheer number of problems is a very good reason to delay an official patch. If you patch it incompletely, you can do more harm than good.

Besides. The game is entirely playable as is, out of the box.

At 85 megs, do you really want this patch to be added to the next one? I'd rather get it out of the way now...

there's so many bugs, I wonder if they will release a fix for say half (the most important ones) and fix the rest in another patch?
