new patch is out #303

Wat is your problem man. The game isnt broken its the best expansion pack ever. I dont know what your smoking.

Yes because having to rely on third party patches to fix balance issues like AIs spreading financially crippling corporations like religions doesn't need fixing. Or fixing the broken espionage system on epic and marathon speeds.

Oh well. Off to ebay this POS goes. Its obvious they don't care about their game considering how long it took them to release a totally useless patch.

Oh my time to compose myself then try to respond

1 - how many months was this product on the market before this patch?

24.gif
not having much luck composing

2 - seen less usefull patches from Firaxis on other SM games.
24.gif
and they fixed things nobody ever heard of before . . . so people started looking at the fixed items . . . 11 out of 8 items scrutenized (yes 11 out of 8, not 8 out of 11) were found to be not fixed even though they were listed.

OMG no luck composing myself, this may require medication.

3 - at least this patch was playtested by Steam Users before it hit main stream players.

that does it . . . where did I put the sedative

This patch is great it fixes a lot of version problems, we dont see that many *MOD* users now...

Really? I played with a friend yesterday using 3.02, and we saw each other as *mod*. We also had several OOSs. We eventually aborted because of this, which was said since I was clearly winning :D

Civilopedia links causing CTDs.

Many people incl. me have had this problem, so shouldn't this be on the news page included in the news about patch release. I had to reinstall because of it, and I don't think many people are happy to download patch, use it a few minutes, reinstall, and go back to 3.02/Solver's unofficial patch.

Can someone translate this to English for me?

Honestly don't understand all this whining.
3.03 is clearly an hotfix considering that Firaxis hasn't even hinted at it; compared to 2.08 when Firaxis announced Changelog one month before, you understand that it isn't the real first patch. With Solver unofficial patch now at least we can play with most issues and bugs resolved, so we don't have to wait until they launch official patch.

The patch won't even install for me. It keeps saying "no previous version of Beyond the Sword detected". What! If I don't have BtS then how did I download you through BtS?? Moronic installer!

Did you get your copy throught D2D? If so, then you need to use their patch for it.

I feel a bit compelled to mention that for me this 3.03 patch was far from useless. :D Before this patch I had load the game in admin-mode (I have Windows Vista) and trying to play any BtS-content led (most of times) to a ctd. Now my little sister can play the game too without bothering me with the admin passport and I haven't seen a single ctd since patching.

For me, before this patch, the little game play bugs were far from the top of my annoyance list. Fortunately after this patch I can join the rest of you guys and start complaining about missing leader heads (witch I haven't seen yet) and other important stuff... :mischief:

I am quite happy for you jpolvi. It is most annoying when you buy a game only to have hard time getting it to work in the first place. Most people hare however aren't fully aware of such problems like the ones you had. Obviously because the majority didn't have them. (By the way did you have the Civilopedea CTD?)

Why there is so much whining? Well because we all paid hard earned cash to get an expansion with promising new features. We have the right to have these features work properly. (Thank god for Solver's patch).

Yeah, it seems that the latest patch concentrated on few vista related issued that didn't bother the vast majority of players... This patch could have been documented so much better. That way there would have been no need to guess what this patch actually does (if anything). It would be nice to hear little more life signs (comments, explanations, future plans...) from Firaxis in the future...
And no, I didn't stumple on any problems with civilopedia.

it must have been an optional patch because we are "forced" to update for nothing in order to play in multi...

taken from civilized.de and translated by babelfish (thanks to rupertlittlebea) - btw, my english would have been much better... :p

the fact that with the Patchen obviously only files are updated older date is than the files contained in the Patch. Affected by it is also in Germany the released BtS version, since the version 3.01 sold here possesses a newer file date of the central program file CvGameCoreDLL.dll, that's why this file is not updated with the Patch. Thereby it comes to a version conflict with Multiplayer-games with players, whose American 3.00-Version was patcht perfectly on 3.02. The conflict might persist up to the appearance of the next Patches. Update: In the forums it is reported that the problem can be solved, as the file Beyond the Sword\Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll is deleted manually and Patch 3,02 are installed again with the correct file version.

The only ones who were forced to update were the Steam users. From my understanding of their posts, their version autoupdates and they can't go back to a previous patch. Retail version doesn't have to patch if we don't want to and in fact I still haven't.

Though the HoF 3.03 mod is about to be mandatory for submissions... ;)

Here's a combat graphics bug that appeared just after the patch was applied:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=238129

It doesn't appear to really fix anything vital, so if you haven't downloaded the patch yet, you might want to just hang tight until the next one is available. I got mine from D2D and, unfortunately, that version started at 3.02, so I don't think there's a patch available to revert back to 3.02 for that one (other than just doing a fresh install).
Yes, i've seen this bug as well. The combat animations are bugged with this patch. Mostly when a battle starts, 2 opponents are dying already and standing up after a few seconds to die again.

Kaspersky tells me the patch contains a trojan.

Is there any way to uninstall this specific patch? Or do I have to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it?
