new patch is out #303

Is there any way to uninstall this specific patch? Or do I have to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it?

Start > System Configuration > Software > De-install (select the proper patch)

(from my memory, I don't have an English Windows installation)

You have to uninstall BtS and reinstall the game and apply the 3.02 patch (which can be gotten here or at the Firaxis site). You don't need to reinstall Vanilla or anything like that.

I've had BTS completely shut down my computer twice so I'm definitely going to try this patch and hope it helps. Running Vista on the computer.

Sure seems a good patch for Vista users but as an XP user this patch has caused serious difficulties -- time to uninstall for me.

Actually, Virulent was right.

Actually it has no noticeable improvement for vista users (at least I'm not seeing any) either. Has anyone actually got any benefit from this patch at all?

A few people have got some problems solved for them. Some of these problems were actually serious. So in general it wasn't a totally useless patch. But this is exactly what an optional patch can be.

Now, there is nothing wrong with releasing a patch that solves a specific number of problems for a number of users. What is wrong however is the lack of clear and informative statement of what the patch does exactly. Also when a patch is only useful for a number of users it has to be optional in the sense that it shouldn't be required for everybody who want to play MP or like to submit a game for the HoF.

A universal patch is one that changes game play in a way or another. Then it would be impossible for MP that a player doesn't have installed and it will be unfair to allow a submission to HoF without it.

DId you update to the latest DirectX release? (The latest is 9.0c with August 2007 updates). If not, you'll crash like mad. If so, you'll notice improvements in speed.

Yes, i've seen this bug as well. The combat animations are bugged with this patch. Mostly when a battle starts, 2 opponents are dying already and standing up after a few seconds to die again.

extremely annoying and somewhat confusing. especially when you see your unit dying and at the same moment winning the battle.
i just finished a game that i patched half way through and now i am reinstalling/reverting to 3.02.

I have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) -- microsoft update doesn't display available updates -- is this the one?

dxdiag says that's the same "main version" as me.
But for kicks, check teh DirectX Files window.

Yes mine are the same and 3.03 was a crashfest -- switched back to 3.02 and all is swell, well except for the bugs but they aren't bad for just a couple o' weeks on the market.

ALL new games are beta -- there's no way to get all the bugs out of PC games -- so many different components, drivers, strategies -- as long as they work on the bugs I'm happy.

I'm not liking that combat animation bug, so if I want to go back once version do I have to reinstall the whole game, or do I just have to remove and reinstall Beyond the Sword?

Same thing for me- cannot recommend 3.03 patch to anyone with XP, crashing almost instantly after starting the game. and i too have all the latest drivers and dx's.

3.02 (+solvers unoffical patch) works excellent :goodjob:

DirectX has been at version "9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)" for almost 3 years now, but it still changes substantially every 2 months (designated by month and year, such as "June 2007 update" and "August 2007 update"). I have no idea why they do it that way, and I've never been able to tell which "update" I have. Anybody else know how to tell?

just Beyond the Sword,
max. 10min of your time.

Somehow I've managed to screw up BTS completely by uninstalling it and putting 3.02. I can't get any new game or save file to load. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times but haven't gotten it to work again. I tried the other version and they still work, but I don't know what happened and why the problem survives uninstalling the game.
That ten minutes is going to turn into 24 hour soon. I've REALLY screwed something up.

I know this has already been mentioned but there is an animation bug when fighting.

I hope this is fixed in the next patch.

Where do you get the 3.02 patch?
I uninstalled the 3.03 patch.
Can some one give me the link.
I tried the CFC download database and 2k games site.

Hopefully the next patch brings us a stable version.
It's the third patch and the game isn't playable at all.
When will there be a real good patch with which we have no issues, and, if this isn't possible, when is it planned to release the next patch?
