New unit: Roman Pikeman (22nd May 2005)

screw civ 4, I ain't gonna stop modding Civ III until zulu stops making units!

Wow, can't believe I missed this one. THanks for bumping it so I could find it. I now can get rid of the ugly Thyatian graphic I had in place in my mod. Great look. Good work Zulu!

Note: Thyatis is a fantasy nation in the world of Mystara that was based on Roman and Byzantine empires.

two me it seems to be a etruscan hoplite(or a very early roman hoplite when they still had them

The Chi-Symbol isn't intrinsically Byzantine. It's just an early Christian symbol, and one which Roman troops had on their shields from the early fourth century onwards. So if Rome had survived long enough to make it into the early Middle Ages and start building Pikemen (in Civ terms), they would have had the Chi-Rho symbol as well.

I didnt know about early use of that emblem, however the christogram (which just means: "letter of christ", 'christoletter' ) was definately in byzantine flags of a late period; iirc in the nika flag (remember the nika stasis?) ;)
