New UU's

I just can't beleive why some people take the time to argue about the fact that Byzatines are Romans... who cares...
Sometimes, you cant draw a straight line. Beside, Bizantine will NOT be in Conquest. Sorry. bwahahahahahahahaaaaaaa

Poor bastards......-lol-

:rotflmao:

It's real sad they all got killed and that the nazi's conquered poland and all... but 60 years later it's a funny bit of military history

Lots of talk about Byzantium.
Don't mean to be a bore but isn't this thread supposed to be about Unique Units? Assuming it is included as a new civ (which I don't think it will be), what kind of UU would Byzantium have?

[BTW, the Americans are in Civ3, and they are a branch off from the British, so it would be just as logical to have Byzantium as a seperate civ.]

Byzantium aside, the modern UUs (F-15, Panzer) in Civ3 give the owner civs an unfair advantage. Had the Americans or Germans remained weak historically, they never would have developed airial or armored superiority. Because of this, I'd say modern UUs are only appropriate for scenarios and should not be in the core game.

Then what can America have? Since it is a 'new' civ then surely they should also not be in the game as if they weren't ancient...

That arguement does not really hold up.

bwahahahahahahahaaaaaaa, is indeed right for me :)

Byzantium already has an assured place in the medieval scenario- we just dont know if it will be a "full" civ yet, which then brings into account the merit of weather or not it casn trully be called an indipent civ from Rome (if it wasnt, then you could not have it as a civ could you?)so sorry to prove YOU WRONG

Its like I've told people when the topic comes up- I'm usually not rude to people unless they are rude to me first

Ok another problem with Byzantium being asdded to the game: cities. What Cities would byzantium have? Wouldn't they have many of the same cites as Rome and the Ottomans? I s it good to have the same city in the game under three different names(Byzantium, Constanitinople, Istanbul)?

This is mearly a logistics problem. Not anything to degrade Byzantiums worthyness of being included.

the Romans have a good deal of the largest cites in east under there belts already- but by no means all of them, there are more then enough to go around to have Byzantium, as for the Capital, I think it would be cool to to have all three incarnations of Byzantium in 3 differnt empires in the game- shows the importance of that one city in hostory

Well no point in argueing aboput weather Byzantium should be included or not. They are already in it seems. (check the frontpage) now all we have to wonder about is what their UU wil be?

Cataphracts has to be, only things that would come close would be scutatoi or varanarian gauard (i cant spell that- the guys with the axes), but the cataphracts were the real clinchers in byzantine battles. Plus they look so damn cool.

Wait maybe itll be fireships....:crazyeye:

Right could be anything, but i hope its cataphracts

I sure hope its cataphracts. just imagene haw angry xen will be if not.

click as xen turns on his new conquest game, pushes byzantine, uu--a light horsemen:lol:   aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh:cry:

I would suffer inconcieible siezures, before dying, coming back to life, shouting, and leting off a LOT of *anger* (if thats the proper word for it...) throw a tantrum, then do it all over again till the shock wears off, and i can assemble the next crusade to right the fould wrong delt to Byzantium (and this time, there 'ill be stinckin Franks or Venitians to get in my (Byzantiums) way...) there is already presedence to do this about Theodora, but the Cataphracts would clench it....

besides, scutatoi are simply late legionaries (why I've never included them as an option) and are already represented, and Varangian guards simpley vikings, and boat UUs' suck bigguns
