New video from Destructoid (May, 14th)

They also increase in cost with each Pantheon founded.

Crap... forgot to read the 2nd and 3rd page

ANYWAYS

Actualyl, you need an established EMBASSY to have the RA's and Open Borders now, don't think you're required to have a DoF for those two.

However, I would be more than happy to have DoF and Denoucements in Hotseat/MP, that would be icing on the cake for the expansion pack! Not to mention a better PC which I have now (except a graphic card) and so many new features, I can't wait!

I've been thinking, wouldn't it make sense for Great Firewall to a be a project not a Wonder? Further, over certain units/buildings may just not be counting the units made for the mods, so there is that.

Dennis Shirk did say in the Pax video that there were over 27 new Units. This discrepancy may just be talk, but I've found that whenever something has advertised "over X of something" there is a round number involved, one or two points higher than that mentioned.

27 is such an oddly specific number that you won't say "over" with normally. You would say over 20 units or over 25 units. You don't say over 27 units, you would say "exactly 29 units." That being said, he could be hedging because of the scenario units. 27 in the actual game, over 27 counting the scenarios.

So if Sweden shows up on the other side of your world when playing as someone else, DoF them and you get a 10% GP boost... interesting.

On a tiny map maybe, but in no way do you have an idea of what the next couple city locations are going to be after a mere 5 turns on a standard of large map. Let's say you pick Goddess of the Hunt because you have a single deer resource near your capital, only to find out after 6 turns that there is a great spot nearby with 4 sources of stone and that there aren't anymore deer around. They need to be able to get a second one, or be allowed to change pantheon every X number of turns.

 I'll confess that I usually play on small maps. Very occasionally I'll play standard, but the only games I've played higher than that were just for the trophies. Giant unexplorable worlds just don't entertain me.

But anyway, even with my starting warrior, for me at least, 5 turns is enough to get a general idea of the type of terrain I'm in. If I see a line of 4 desert tiles a few hexes away from my capital, I know to expect flood plains, oases, probably an abundance of spice. If I see quite a few forest tiles or (more tellingly) a few jungles, then I know to expect deer, furs, bananas, etc. Now I suppose I would have to add Truffles and Citrus to that list.

Now of course this is working on extrapolation, so if you're not comfortable making a pantheon decision until you're 100% certain of what you're going to be working in your 2nd and 3rd cities (Since I almost never expand until at least turn 30, this would never work for me) then maybe the Celts just aren't for you.

If..... they start near Forest tiles, isn't that pretty obvious? Pick a pantheon that helps with Forest tiles. ok scratch that :|

Except that goddess of the hunt forces them to negate their UA bonus !

Stone Circles sound better as an adequate replacement to alleviate the possible loss of their early benefit.

It is very fitting to the celts as well !

So with regards to Sweden:

That +10% bonus to Great People spawning... do you think that will stack additively? That would mean that I could feasably have a 20-30% boost on normal maps, or even a 50-60% on the very largest settings. Isn't that a bit much? Particularly when you're playing peacefully anyway, DoF's aren't too hard to come by. Thoughts?

THe downside is that civs who you DoF come begging for money and luxury resources. Having a bunch of beggars eating your bank account will suck.

I always give them my luxuries... since I pretty much never trade them away I know I'm bad  However when they demand gold I pretty much often refuse...

They should scale down the rate of the gold.

It seems to me that they must pick what they want based upon whatever is most dear to you. They always seem to come after a resource that I literally just got a second copy of or they want a huge piece of the treasury just as I discovered a tech that I was going to buy a bunch of units or buildings with. If not that, then they want gold over time, which really makes me mad!

I always perceived that they asked for whatever you could comfortably spare. Trading things as you get them ASAP and spending your money quickly is required when in DOFs.

It depends if there will be more disadvantages on signing more than one DOFs . If the disadvantages of having many DOFs aren't heavy enough to counterbalance the cumulative GP Spawning bonus, then it seems that a patch to fix this might be necessary, which would decrease the GPP bonus if Sweden got more than one DOF .

I don't think Sweden mistook Op. Some people may grumble if picked during an online match. I really want to try them out! I think they will put doc and denouncements in Mp games because Sweden would be very weak without them.

Hong Kong, nicknamed "desert of culture" as a cultural CS (as some have suggested in the past) would be funny.

Yes, Hong Kong has finally made it into Civilization V as a CS! And agreed, it would be laughable of HK was anything other than a mercantile CS.
