Noble Exercise Work Book III

Deforestation with Frederick

.

This exercise brings us to the north eastern corner of the Great Plains map, with Frederick as the leader of the Germans. As in the previous two Newb exercises, this is a "race to a base" game. This time, we define our base is

  • Founding five cities (your capital plus four more trained settlers) -- more cities are allowed.
  • Each city must have 5 or more workable cottages (which means that the cottage must be built, and there must be enough happy citizens - actually working the cottages is not required).
  • No citizens working unimproved tiles.
  • No cottages may be built in a city until it has been cleared of ALL grassland forests in the fat cross.

The object of this exercise is to achieve this "victory condition" as quickly as possible. So your "score" is the turn on which you've achieved all of these.

As Jet mentions below, each cottage can only be counted toward one city.

If two cities overlap, you can't build a cottage in the overlapping area until both cities are cleared of all grassland forests.

"Grassland forests" means all forests on green tiles (hills too).

Might want to specify that each cottage can only count toward one city.

No cottages may be built in a city until it has been cleared of ALL grassland forests in the fat cross.

Unlikely borders will pop on the four settled cities -- do you mean the first ring of squares around the city, or the entire BFC ?

Entire fat cross (20 tiles). You don't need to pop the borders, but ya gotta mow the lawns.
