Here are some of the worst flashpoints around the world.

North and South Korea. As long as a madman rules in the North this could touch off at the drop of a hat.

China and Taiwan. Always an issue. The goal is to get china so dependent on foreign consumers that it would crash their economy if it went to war.

India and Pakistan. Traditionally the worst flashpoint in the world. These guys are used to trading artillery rounds on the weekends just to kill time. But, during the recent major earthquake in Pakistan, we saw something unprecendented...Pakistan accepting help from India...amazing.

I don't think this war will break out tomorrow, because Israel is not "living in safety", nor "recovered from war". But if peace breaks out in the middle east first, get ready for the "War of Gog and Magog" next!

I think rekon America will will have a civil war between citys and suburbs. Then all the little conflicts around the world will spark up. So Russia will nuke the entire world to calm it down. and a russian-suburb allaince will rules the world.

I think the next major war won't be with Iran (I think there's more bluffing or just baring teeth on all sides -- mainly because the US army is right next door). I don't think North Korea will be another area either. China vs. Taiwan with Russian backing of China is probably the most likely, though, and even that would be within a decade or so (save it for Hillary Clinton).

If Hillary is president when that happens, I could see her imposing sanctions on not only China, but Russia, while supplying aid (along with Britain) to Taiwan to show that she's tough enough to handle things on the world stage.

Unfortunate as this scenario is , it's already begun .

But I wouldn't go so far . It's more like orthodox Islam ( not Muslims in general ) vs. everyone else . Hopefully , countries from the Indian subcontinent won't join this war - I don't want the greater Indian world devastated . Indonesia , Malaysia , etc. will , I hope , not side with anyone . I hope that the Indial cultural roots of these places will prevent too much polarisation .

But then again , the seeds of this conflict were planted long , long ago ( in the year 570 AD ) . I hope that it will finally be resolved during my lifetime .

I've been convinced since the mid-90s that the next huge world-wide dust up will be between the USA and China. The terrorist attacks on September 11th have done nothing to make me change my opinion that the ChiComs are the ultimate threat to world peace. They make no bones about viewing the USA as their primary opponent in the future and we really need to be sure we're ready.

Actually, any communist nation is a threat simply because the only thing commies want is the world under the oppresive bootheel of communism. However, the PRC are the only ones with the manpower and potential economic might and eventual technical expertise to really worry about right now.

That assessment is sooo Cold War. The PRC today pays only lip service to communism. It is as capitalistic as any other country, but refuses to admit so officially. The ChiComs main concern now is how to sustain the country's growth while remaining firmly in control. There is no country today seeking to "crush the world under the oppresive bootheel of communism." Not Russia, not China. Both these nations (as well as other nations like India, Japan, etc.) are firmly trying to grow (economically and militarily) and become more powerful players on the global scene but that is due to nationalism, not ideology.

China will not be that stupid as to risk a war with the US, especially for some ideology that has already been found to be not so efficient in taking care of its own people.

We will instead wait patiently for a future power vacuum before we make our move.
