Next Major War?

Oh, come on. Do you really belive on this statistics ? I have read that every day in Iraq, about 500 americans die.

And i don't say that Iran will invade USA, i say that it will be VERY hard for the americans to ocupie Iran. These days, the Iranians made a 9 million live chain on the border, to protect their nuclear program.

500 per day?! Where do you get your news?

Well, the war's been going on for what, 3 years now ? So half a million Americans have died, that's only 4 times the amount of troops deployed
Seems reasonable to me.

I don't say i believe this numbers. I am just showing how various can be the numbers. As i said in my prevois post these statistics are crap.

Half a million AMericans dead. The generally accepted number is 2000. I The entire American Army only consists of 1.3 million troops. So that would mean that a little less than half the army was killed.

I was sarcastically responding to an earlier statement ... if you hadn't noticed.

500 a day is a bull****. But far more than announced 2000 or so man. Every army empathize soldiers with no raleatives- you can't use them as show cuz there will be no weeping mother/sisters/children to show on TV and demoralize own citizens and you can never mention them in casualty lists cuz no one will search for them and so on.

There havent even been 500 papercuts a day in Iraq among US personnel.

Still 2000 in 3 years isnt exactly just a few people. The airplane attacks on the usa took away 3000 lives iirc. 2000 more didnt really erase the pain, did it...

The only thing Bush has to brag about regarding the whole sad Iraqi affair is that there have been only about 2000 deaths after almost 3 years of war. Thats incredible. Not that Bush had anything to do with it. Its a natural consequence of a 21st century fighting machine, the greatest the world has ever known, going up against a bunch of wackjobs in pajamas, armed with nothing but small arms and roadside bombs.

According to this approved usa losses per month is about 50-80, still have no idea about multiplier that shouldbe applied to get real numbers.

General rule of war:
Multiply your losses by 2
Divide the enemy losses by 3

I say that Australia will invade New Zealand. That is every Australians dream. :D

Okay, now i will be serious. The next major war will be an undeclared war and the fighting will be in secret. Ot will be latter down the track before we find out that a war even occured.

Hmm..according to CNN:

There have been 2,292 coalition deaths, 2,094 Americans, one Australian, 97 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, two Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, one Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of November 21, 2005

Not exactly 1/2 mill, but not great considering the technoligical gap between american troops and thier attackers. I honestly beleive that a large-scale conventional war (between competent aggressors) will not happen until there is a major economic shake-up like that that happened in 1929. Yes china is scary, but they have far too much to lose if they declared war on anybody right now.

Guava, even with all the top notch technology that exists today without financial limits there will hundreds of deaths in a guerilla war. I think 2000 is quite ok ... hell, even if the Iraqi's were using pre-WW1 technology that number seems likely due to the nature of their attacks.

We didn't even lose 500 per day during World War II.

If this is only for a conventional war between states, then, tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea have been rising. They fought a border war from, IIRC, 1998 to 2000, taking some 70,000 lives. Neither side is all that happy with UN efforts to settle on a border agreement.

I guess that's true, but what do you compare that to? I heard that the ration of Iraqi casualties to american is about 10:1 . I'm guessing that's ok, but again, I don't know exactly how to account for differences in fighting 'style' (guerilla vs conventional)
