Technological gap? us facing not civilian with black powder arqebuses, but well supplied guerrilas. Terroristic cells are indeed well supplied and can afford ATGM wich means portable 50000$ worth ATGM will burn to the ground any us tank or machine wich cost 1kk$+. Main problem is delivery of specialists wich can hit'n'run fast or recruiting of suicide bombers. But even poorly trained guy with old Ak-47 can kill a coalition soldier in skirmish. And mentioning that muslims breed fast and in vast numbers I guess they can afford even 1 to 10 losses. That's damned circle - usa try to supress native separatists and spawning even more resisters. That's maybe face of future wars and those who can fight with guerrila tactics better will prevail.

Guava, even with all the top notch technology that exists today without financial limits there will hundreds of deaths in a guerilla war. I think 2000 is quite ok ... hell, even if the Iraqi's were using pre-WW1 technology that number seems likely due to the nature of their attacks.

What you guys dont realize is that a significant portion of those deaths in Iraq are due to common accidents/incidents. Not all of those deaths are to "enemy action".

Hell, the first casualties from the Stryker Brigade from Fort Lewis, WA was where a Stryker rolled over into a water filled ditch and the guys drowned.

Traditonally, more people are NBL's (Non-Battle Loss) than KIA from enemy action. Accidents, sickness claim more than casualties than enemy action.
