Next patch anticipation thread

I have yet to have a game where I've seen one of the new wonders, I also haven't encountered the cliffs of Dover.

You're not missing out much, the 'Seven Sisters' (I prefer that name because it means it doesn't have to be in relation to the city of 'Dover') is a bit of a weak natural wonder; if you could still build on-top of them it would be better. What they could of done is something like the Great Barrier Reef where it's just off the coast but give adjacency bonuses to all land tiles next to it; of which the white chalk cliff graphic could still probably apply.

I wasn't some much wanting to take advantage of their yields but really just to see them in game and have them in my empire. I really like the way they look.

One of the things we took as proof for the November patch and the December stuff was that their PR was still actively pushing out videos and social media things. We haven't actually seen much of that this month. Just a livestream on the 2nd and a merchandise pack in the store with a brass compass and sextant.

I actually am playing my Rome game right now. I want to finish it but I want a new patch MORE. I have to leave here soon to get a mop for my vacuum cleaner so this game is gonna have to wait and it was just getting good, ah well I can attempt to finish with the new patch. COME ON PATCH!

I think we can take it for granted that a Civ patch will never prevent you from continuing your game, because only a few people like us are hyped about stuff like that, while for the majority of casual gamers it's probably more of an annoyance that they have to wait for some download to finish, while they keep clicking on that "Play" button in Steam, just in case that speeds up the process. If the patch would also break their current games, I'd say this wouldn't be appreciated at all. :D

You'll probably have to start a new game to have all the new features/ changes though.

It happened every time with Civ V patches. I had one with Spain that I managed to have 3 great natural wonders on my side of a bottleneck in the continent with all the other civs on the other side. Then the patch downloaded and blitzed the save.

That's true, but they didn't do much at all in that regard recently, I think? Could be they skipped it entirely this time. If our anticipation of when the patch hits is not completely off, it would be a bit late, too.

Oh, I didn't expect that. Doesn't that lead to lots of rage and moderated posts?
Well I guess in that case @drmuser and @tekjunkie28 better hurry up a bit. ;)

They warned it in every patch note. And the casuals who would be most upset are the least likely to find a forum to vent on.

Do we know what time exactly Poland and Vikings were released on? Preferably in GMT/UTC?

Very true, but the next most likely medium for them to go complain in is probably the civ subreddit.

It was around 9pm EST, which is like 3am in Europe.

The patch will get here sooner or later. Everyone gets so excited about these patches and then they actually get it. Expectations are dashed and the complaints start. Soon we'll have a thread just like this one for the next patch. It's going to be a long process. The game is fairly good right now and will just keep getting better.

That makes sense!

Are descriptions for new achievements sometimes updated before the new DLC is released, or does this usually happen at the very same moment?

That's something I hope to learn this time around. My kid was in the hospital during the last patch and DLC, so I missed some of the things going on on SteamDB.

I hope your kid is better after being in the hospital.
He is sickly and has been in and out all winter. He's doing well at the moment.

I also hope your kid feels better already!
edit: Oh he does, that's good to hear!

If we can see the new achievements before the release and can guess their meaning this would be really nice!
