Next patch anticipation thread

The latest they've updated the game so far was roughly 6pm pacific time. While business hours normally end at 6pm office time, that is almost never the case around releases, so there's still a 3ish hour window where we could reasonably expect the patch to release. Thursday is also the best day to release games / patches / DLC on Steam, so there's that factor. If it doesn't release today, then it's likely to release Tuesday.

You generally never want to release something on Fridays because of the weekend, nor do you want to release on Monday because people need to catch up from being out over the weekend.

If the patch comes today, at what time will that be? I think the Poland patch came at around 7:00PM in my country, which would be 2 hours from now. Can we expect this to come at the same time, if it does come today?

It came at 7:00PM where I live as well. I'm going to stop crossing my fingers for today if it's not dropped in the next two hours.

Additionally, this is looking really good for cross-platform multiplayer. They seem to be getting all their ducks in a row across the various versions.

*stops divining with my shirt wrinkles*

The qa updates kind of took the wind out of my sails for today, but it might still happen. If it does, expect it in 3-4 hours.

Has anyone here ever been involved with developing for Steam before? Is there a process that happens between when the developer says "Go!" and when things appear on Steam? I'm thinking of something analogous to the approval process for the iOS App Store, that takes some additional time.

I don't think so. Loose quality control is one of the reasons Steam has developed a bit of a shovelware problem in the last few years.

The only real delays are the time it takes to propagate to Steam's global CDN, but that's generally seen on the user's side where some will have the patch available before others. There is an approval process when it comes to releasing new products, so it's possible the DLC qualifies, but it's mostly checks and balances on the Steam Store entry to make sure everything is filled out properly.

Which is all taken care of well in advance I assure you. When the dev uploads that stuff to Steam then it immediately becomes available most of the time.

Just saw this from Aspyr on Steam:

"The Mac update will drop a little while after the Windows update."

That's just great. Now I have two things to wait impatiently for. Anybody know how long a "little while" is?

oooo

I broke down and bought Civ6 deluxe today (damn you Humble Bundle!). Now I need this patch to drop.
