No freaking mouse pointer in opening screen(Driving me crazy - please help)

I don't see a mouse pointer in the opening screen of the game where there is a button 'Click to Continue' with the statue of the emperor or something in the background. Before the patch what I could do is do an alt-tab and the mouse pointer would appear but now nothing works. The changed something I don't know what that prevents this workaround from working anymore. Please help, I am using Windows Vista 64 bit and my monitor is a Samsung 46" TV. I spent hours finding the first workaround don't wanna spend any more time on this freaking problem.

The continue button changes color when the cursor is on top of it so you can find it by moving the mouse up and down and the same time moving it side ways.

You could also try pressing Shift-Tab to get in the Steam's Steam play window as you should be able to see the mouse pointer there.

Also what I can find about the problem you might want to try to turning off the mouse pointer trails in Windows as that seems to cause this problem in many games when using Win 7.
