None Shall Pass 2 [Game Thread - Concluded]

I should have seen this coming, but I really thought he's adapt his mindset. You cannot play Mafia like you play Realpolitik or an IOT.

Zack clearly spent a huge amount of time designing and hosting this game to make a good experience for his players. You, meanwhile, decided to ruin the game for at least two of those players, and to try and spoil Zack's carefully-balanced set-up, for no reason other than that you wanted to be the centre of attention. In all my years playing mafia, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so pathetic.

Eh, it's not quite as pathetic as the way ELITEOFWARMAN or whatever the hell he called himself used to play these.

You're mad at me for not acting like a townie when I wasn't one? :p
I hate you anti-town scum as a matter of principle and of policy. But you had been screaming scum for the past two or three days, I'd been open with the town networkers and then suddenly they decided to lynch me instead of you. If it hadn't been for those mangy elves and their meddling town…

Come on guys, why so much hostility? It's not like I wanted to be the center of attention. I was voting at first depending on who got the most votes because there was not enough evidence yet, and everyone wanted to lynch due to this. Then I decided to be the center of attention in order to save my skin (at first at least. After I killed Spaceman I got the ambition of ruling the town :king:) and now everyone is hostile.

Let’s just chalk it up to a learning experience and to know that mafia is ultimately a team game (even if you don’t know who your team members are) and that you should always play to the benefit of your team and in-game personal goals. Making up abilities is a: very scummy and b: ultimately not helpful to the town effort. These things should never be done as a townie without a very specific in-game reason for it.

With a name like that, seems pretty par for the course. It's like Steam/Xbox Live. After you've played a few rounds, you can reliabley predict the more obnoxious problem players for a match based soley on their handle.

Don't worry too much, it's your first game. :) Like BSmith said, it's a learning experience. Just be sure to more carefully consider the ramifications of your actions in the future - not only in the current game, but also the long-term consequences in future games.

Come on guys, why so much hostility?

Mainly, it's the lack of any sense that you accept that what you did was bad. It comes off to me as if you'd do exactly the same thing again, given the chance. Mafia games simply cannot work if people approach them with the attitude you took here.

If you want to play again with this group, and to avoid being lynched day one on principle, you need to show that you get why that kind of behaviour is so problematic, and indicate that you don't intend to repeat it in future. If you do that, and stick to it, there won't be an issue.

Mmmmkay, christos, you played very badly but it's your first game. And you didn't eat dog meat, which CFC-OT tells me is a Very Bad Thing.

As BSmith said, live and learn. Its your first of hopefully many games, and you'll learn how to do a better job in the future. Sorry if I've been a bit hostile. Its important that you realize that, for the most part, in mafia you have to play to help your team, or you'll lose (and your teammates won't be happy about it).

Your teammates won't be happy about losing or about teamwork?

about losing due to lack of teamwork

christos and the town won the game...

Yeah, but christos's behavior certainly didn't help the town. The town won in spite of christos's lying about his scan, not because of it.

The town won because of Verarde, and because other factions scanned and killed each other

Okay, but I was being pedantic. spaceman said such a lack of teamwork will make you lose, when that obviously wasn't the case this game. :p
