NoP NESII: The "New Imperialism"

Shadowbound gets the Germany. All nations that had agreements with Germany (I remember seeing some in the orders), I advise you resend the treaty to Shadowbound.

I finished the map, and it has been posted.

UK: You should read this for historical background, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Boer_War

If we gave everyone what they wanted, we would not be an Empire. You know we will refuse to give up land that was British-held before the war. If it is access to the sea you want, you could easily have gained that without war. Instead, you chose to assault our holdings. Instead of seeking a peaceful expansion into uncontested lands, you chose to attack us. We will enforce our borders by arms if necessary. This is more of a ploy to push us out of South Africa than it is to gain a seaport. Your only choice of gaining entrance to the sea is to expand to the east and west. It merely depends on how much British lead you are willing to absorb to learn that lesson.

The only reason we are fighting you right now is because the British Empire decided to ignore the Sand River Convention, which you signed in 1852. That declaration guaranteed us the right to a sovereign state. You have since revoked it and broken your word. We retaliated by declaring our independence and now our troops have forced themselves deep into your colony. We are willing to halt the conflict in return for a tiny swath of land in your Empire. Surely a few hundred miles of Africa is not worth a military quagmire? Give us what we need or the entire colony will be in Afrikaner hands by the end of the year.

OOC: JPEG make bad map quality.

Agreed.

Agreed.

What is your proposal then?

And how have we revoked our guarantee of your sovereignty?

Cape Treaty

1: The British Empire cedes the following territories to the Transvaal Repblic

2: Transvaal pays 1 EP to the British Empire in reparations.

3: All hostilities between the British Empire, Orange Free State and Transvaal Republic cease.

4: Transvaal Republic and the British Empire sign a non-aggression pact which will expire January of 1886.

5: All POWs on both sides are returned.

We are also willing and interested in participating in joint economic projects to the benefit of our two nations.

OOC: #1, How will this affect my EP?

OOC: Problem: There's gold in them thar' hills.

The Kaiser seconds.

To Great Britain
From the German Empire

The Kaiser looks with... well, not really any emotion on the treaty being negotiated between the Transvaal and Britain. However, he wants to buy the remains of the British South Africa colony if the treaty is signed, and will pretend to be relieved that British troops comported themselves so well in the war and that it was resolved without anyone else dying. So, what price will Britain take for it's South African colony?

Accepting this offer would extricate the British Empire from anymore unpleasantness in the region, and secure a good and lasting friendship with the German Reich.

The British Empire will probably refuse both the German and Boer offers.

1) Pre-war borders,
2) We will help you establish naval bases on both sides of Africa
3) Joint Boer-British colonization of Madagascar
4) Joint Boer-British colonization of the Congo
5) Reparations paid to Britain
6) Boer sovereignty recognized

Strike reparations, keep pre-war borders.
