Not all Americans are this stupid...they can't be...surely?

check out this video. It's basically this fella walking around US streets asking Americans who the USA should invade next.

Priceless is not the word.

Who are viable and appropriate targets, according to the yank on the street? Well, here we go:

Saudi Arabia
Iran
ITALY
FRANCE
INDONESIA
SRI LANKA
THE WHOLE OF THE MIDDLE EAST SHOULD BE TURNED INTO A GLASS CRATER

and so on

Jesus Christ! France, by the way, should be invaded because they're not America's allies. I guess these people really believe the Bush mantra "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists".

Next we have geography. The surveyees are asked to put numbered flags on the map where they think these countries are. For some reason, Australia is a popular location of Sri Lanka, Iran, etc.

Does this not speak volumes of the US way of life, and the US state of mind?

Looks like a two minute highlight video of an hour's worth of attempting to find stupid people.

My local tv did the same in a single uninterrupted run,90% of them didnt know where Iraq or Iran is on the friggin map.

seen it before, made me think maybe there should be some kind of intelligens test before people get to vote... nothing too fancy, these basic kind of questions asked here will do!

stoopid people are everywhere, not only in the US.

Are these sorts of studies ever conducted on any country except America? :crazyeye:
I and some friends got several hundred people to sign a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide down in town here.

Oh, and my mother still mixes up Iran and Iraq on a regular basis ... despite knowing people from both countries.

Hahaha, if this video shows the intelligence of the average American (which I doubt, because the guy probably edited out the smart ones) democracy wouldn't be the ideal type of government.

Zulu fell for what amounts to a "JayWalking" segment.

Surely not all Britons are that gullible and humorless? :shakehead

:raises hand:

Im not usually gullible.. and im far from humerous :)

Thats interesting but there could have been lots of mitigating factors like people in town being naturally busy and thus just wanting to get rid of the petition as quickly as possible, that read outloud it may just sound like a substance that isn't well known, people are not expecting to be tricked so probably won't be thinking that they need to actually consider what the name means and people may have still signed it for a joke. :)

The future of the US is screwed. Being a 7th grader in America, I weep for the future when so many kids are friggin idiots, who aren't willing to learn.

I'm sure many signed it for a laugh, but many clearly believed us when we told them it would be a good thing to ban this strong solvent that kills 100+ per year in Sweden.

Pretty new avvie, BTW. :)

I suspect that the people who were wise to it were not included in the video.

The show probably targets people that 'look' more like idiots anyways.

...I think we are being abit hard on zulu. I mean we have to remember that we are dealing with "mr. insane conspiracy from dubious internet news source" here... no wonder he can't seem to figure out the skit. It's like asking a little kid to write a report on where babies come from then laughing at him when he says "storks".

Thats because if you look on the map they use Australia is labaled these nations. For example at the end you see the man pointing to "NorthKorea"(Australia) and then going "oh, I never new NK was so much bigger than SK" because the sea right undeneath Australia is labaled South Korea.

And why not believe? Unless you think it might be fake or are in a thinking mood how many people are going to make the connection straight away whilst on the other hand we know that water can get polluted so this could just be a new chemical and monoxide links well with carbon monoxide. Would have been interesting if you had done a second petition using a real chemical that was plausable and possibly a third with H20 clearly written on the form.

Yes, but wouldnt anyone with half a brain realise something was up at that point.

You can find these idiots anywhere in the world, and its funny to document them i guess... they are adults, they should know about the wider world.

A radio station here in Rio once interviwed people who looked stupid in the streets and asked them what they thought of the Law of Gravity. Most answers were along the lines of:
"It's a disgrace! Absurd! Those politicians only think about themselves! Nobody ever asked ME what I think of the Law of Gravity!" and etc.

It is funny, as most of the people have said and I think it should be mentioned that the interviewer mislead the people by showing them a map on which Australia was labelled as North Korea, France, Iran, etc. ;) nevertheless it is hilarious.
So they used CIA or CNN maps?

Still, those that bothered to give good answers were probably chopped up on the cutting room floor. Others, like Renata would have done, would just make up weird stuff.

Which reminds me that someone did give the answer "Hawaii" when asked what country they'd most like to visit.

Of course, this says nothing about the IQ of Americans, but still - how can one not know that Australia cannot be France, North Korea, Iran, etc. ... ;) It somehow remembers me of this:

(But of course, this is an old one)
Hey, CNN got the countries right this time! :goodjob:
