NOTW Information Thread

Any reason Izipo is on the list twice`?
 
None whatsoever :lol: Just once will be enough.
 
I think I want to run a NOTW in the distant future as well. I have some ideas, but I'm not gonna tell them yet :D
 
I want to run a NOTW. It was inspired by all the secret back-door dealing stuff at FFH NES II, but I have my ideas. Won't tell them though
 
Okay, where was all of this interest back in December when I was rushing to put mine together?
 
It's part of the seasonal cycle of Night of the Werewolves. Hosting slows down, games get smaller, people stop paying much mind to the hobby, and then someone hosts an especially remarkable game out of nowhere. This inspires a bunch of players to want to host their own games.

The cycle comes full circle when too many GMs make reservations for future NotWs, several months in advance, and when their turns come up, they aren't ready to host. This sets off a chain reaction of aborted games, as GMs who thought they had another month or two to perfect their games find out that they need it ready now, and are forced to drop out. The NotW hobby enters another lull, until a rare inspired GM shows up again.

Of course, I'm working to ensure that I don't start such a chain reaction. I have 5 of my 36 player PMs already written up. ;) I should probably finish my War Party AAR before I get too far, though...
 
Yeah, I was part of that massive build-up of GMs making reservations once. I was going to be hosting NotW XIII too, which would have been an awesome number. The reservation list is why I don't plan to host any NotW game in the future. (Instead, I skip the list by making my own games... :p )

And I don't think this is a bad thing - the best way to avoid the inevitable stagnation that follows a thirty signup pileup is to have another game series running alongside it. I think that my Snakes and Foxes served this purpose pretty well, and these MNotWs also help, on a smaller scale, to keep players engaged.
 
I would like to be added to the list of upcoming games. NotW###: Pillars of the Earth

I've got 31 characters already so everybody better sign up!
 
Just a note for the numbering: I think the numbers assigned to each NOTW should be changed. "Reserving" numbers to players as they sign up then not hosting them in that order is going to be a bit confusing. For example, while LightFang was supposed to host XXII, I did, and yet mine's listed as number XXIII. Ditto Renata's, who should have XXIII and yet its listed as XXVI. I think it should stop this bouncing around and each game should be numbered in order as played. Otherwise, the GM won't know what number they are 'supposed' to be. Let's make this simple, shall we? It's become apparent that the games aren't going to be hosted in the order they sign up, so why number them when people sign up?
 
I agree. The order played should be the number of the NotW.
 
Yeah the numbers have always been redundant really. People don't really reserve the number, I will delete them at some point.
