Now Is The Future!

That's a good question. The best way to prevent this from happening is to send a "got it" to the person who sent you the file. If you don't get a "got it" then you should send it again. In my opnion, this should be a rule in all PBEMs.

I think that rule is annoying, but I'm only one guy. However Dazz G is in support of this idea because he is very poilte and always lets me know he got my file. So I am assuming that I am not the problem right now. I don't have it. Dazz had it. Dog boy did you get it?

That would put the problem squarely with Ruff-Hi or Jbieksha.

You two ok?

I've not seen a file since 1265 on 10/15.

Player B should either Ack via email (by hitting reply, typeing "ack - eom" on the subject line, then send) or post to this thread that you played so the previous player knows you have it. If player B does not reply either way, then player a should resend and be sure to post to let others know where it is.

I think is flexible enough to accomodate each style, and allow the player freedom of how much "paperwork" needs to be done.

Its with me. I got 1280AD on the 17th which I played and passed. I just got the following ...
I sent this a couple of days ago but the game seems to be stalled so I'm sending it again. If you already played this, then disregard.
... which contained 1295AD and was new to me. Will play and pass it on.

edit: sent to joe

Sorry - Mistyped. I got 1280 on 10/17, sent out 1295

Today I played 1295 and sent out 1310 (as I am the last player)

I guess the turn will arrive with me while i'm at work then ... always seems to happen on one of the few days i'll probably be away for about 14 hours

I echo Dogboy's comments ... to me, a 'GPS' is law as it allows easy tracing of missing turn files. I always send one to Tim (even though he asked me not to ;) ) and Dogboy always sends me one.

Game Played and sent!

Jbieksha is the last player I think.

More often than not I just post here. If I was only telling Jbieksha that I took my turn than the rest of you couldn't "follow along at home"!

It's true, I did ask Dazz_G to stop sending me the GPS e-mails. For some reason it freaks me out because I only expect to get an email from the recipent if something is wrong.

Besides I trust him. The GPS is unessicary.

Yo.

I still hold the opinion of…ya'll can do what you want.

I think you miss the point ... its not a matter of trust. Sent files can sometimes disappear into outer space and never reach its destination. The idea of GPS is not so we can 'follow along at home' . If everyone sends GPS emails, then if you send the file but don't get a GPS within 24 hours for example then you know either the file didn't arrive or there is a problem with the next player. Either way, resend and see what happens. If still no GPS arrives then the player is probably at fault.

Without GPS, when a turn goes astray then we have to rely on comparing turn dates and timestamps to try work out where the problem lies.

Agree completely.
