To: His Royal Imperial Majesty, King of Great Britain, Emperor of India, Lord Governor of Oregon County, Edward VII
From: Thomas Haynes, President of Confederate States of America
For scores of many years, since the 1775, to be more precise, America have been in quarrel with her motherland that is Britain. But we do not wish to argue with you and your royal advisors and lord magistrates in such manner on why we were so justified in our rebellion. Instead, perhaps precisely the opposite should be considered, and so we shall. As it is hard times, on us more so than upon the Great Britain, or so we assume in ignorance, perhaps, if it were the contrary, we, the Confederacy of states wish to persue more amicable relationship between our nations.
First, we shall adopt more liberal political approach from here on out, in chance to emulate the policy in Britain, in homage. Second, The only remaining state with slavery justified in legal manner is Texas. We will make sure to abolish slavery not only in Texas but all of Confederacy throughout. Third, we will formally apologize for aiding the insurrectionists in both Cuba and Mexico from your dominion. Fourth, we will supply Britain with our cotton, and come to your aid in times of war.
In turn, we request an improved relationship between us: a solid habitable trade agreement, protection of our merchant fleets on high sea, aiding us in our times of need, in whatever forms, and finally more trust in us to be independent in our concent from your disapproval.
Sincerely,
Thomas Haynes
President of Confederate States of America
