NuTRANESIV: Fallen Fantasy

No, he is still an independent entity from your nation--though he does cooperate/tolerate your presence.

But only under one 'faction'.

False. They all seek the end of all things. If they tell you otherwise, they do so because they merely desire to trick you to sink their slobbering fangs into your flesh. If they actually feel otherwise and desire peace, their Hunger will ensure their eventual betrayal of you.

Only solution is a complete total extermination.

The Akkalik after 450 AF

Following recent events, the former king Adak II had abdicated his throne and established a 'Nobles' Council' of sorts, featuring members of many prominent Akkalik families. Though Adak was still grieving for his lost offspring, and although many Melted still dwelled in the mountains, Adak II sided with the faction in the council which supported an attack on the Tabbuk in the south. A ruthless pragmatist, Adak realised that while the Melted were a potential problem, the Tabbuk would never cease to be a threat and must be uprooted as early as possible. While two hundred of Adak's Warden spearmen and three hundred of his slingers were kept at the city of Akkmur to, as Adak put it, "defend the peaks, for they are our hope and our livelihood, and should we lose our hope... there is no point in continuing", the majority of the Wardens of Nak Akkal marched south to face the Tabbuk under a prominent Akkalik commander. Eloquent nobles who supported this move were soon able to quell the protests of several dissenters.

In Akkmur itself, attempts have been made to slow the effects of the Melt via ice houses not dissimilar to a cold sauna, and these are in trial period at the current date.

They're there! Just look for them! I take them into consideration when writing updates.

Could I have them as a more solid, stat, rather than trying to discern them from the update?

hmmm... fighting an entire nation with absolutely no resources or playing as some unintelligent jungle rats, I think my choice has been forced on me.

I'll be playing as the Suth-Sweich, Frozen contact me if you want to cooperate.

Aah, this may be why there is confusion.. in the races section... "Sheol" are not listed...

0 Resources? Mefi has an entire kingdom on the other side of the sea!

huh, I figured that she had no way of contacting them due to being on the other side of the sea with no men left to use the ships.

True, that is a difficulty, but the Muroid-Swiech are fairly intelligent and quite advanced (check the races page! I just put in their entry >_>)

But the Suth-Swiech are a safe bet for the time being. If you would like in Update 0's 'Overview' section I can add an overview of their situation.

That would be nice, though I'm guessing they're more or less being "standard barbarians" that are slightly united at the moment.

There! They're not as barbarian as you think, they just really like killing stuff. If you have ANY questions at all or just want some more direction, do not hesitate to ask (be it here or via PM's). This extends to all players!

The still nearly pristine Suin’s impossibly tall towers and especially the Grand Palace cast their ever present shadows over the much smaller and crude; though still aesthetically pleasing, community of the Dhotel. The Hall, it was absurd to use words like grand to describe it compared to the ever-present glory of the Dhotel’s past hovering above them even though by the living community’s standard it was grand, was open today for the monthly direct petitions to the council. Alia snorted derisively as some of the marked entered The Hall. Growing up as an unmarked she tried to resort to the petitions once and had been rebuffed. All she had wanted was a place to belong. She was six at the time. Now at eight and nearing adulthood Alia still had no place in Dohtel society. She grasped the short Darkwood blade at her side. She knew she was excellent with it and she was sure if she had been tattooed she would have been a blade master, but she also felt tugged in another direction, that of command. She knew, didn’t simply think or imagine; knew as sure as the sun would explode again that she could lead the Dohtel. She shivered as she always did when this thought came to her, the Dohtel should not be pulled in more than one direction. Alia wasn’t even sure she was Dohtel anymore.

More supplicants entered The Hall from the marks on them they were hunters. Probably to seek more supplies or some such Alia imagined. She watched them enviously so sure of their purpose in life while she and the small community of unmarked wandered aimlessly and many on the verge of adulthood still with no direction in life. She was a seed on the wind with no place to land. And as she continued to watch various supplicants enter The Hall and leave it she continued to feel that she could solve their problem and lead them to prosper and also be a blade master. No Dohtel should be able to focus on two important callings like that at the same time. Alia turned her gaze on the hauntingly beautiful Suin and wondered just how many of her unmarked brothers and sisters had sought death there simply to escape this feeling of not knowing your purpose in life. Being a bird without a tail was such a hard way to live.

Alia still being considered a child, and an unmarked at that, had little to do so she wandered up to the very edge of Suin’s defenses. The edge was easily found because the Dohtel had long ago grown and marked specific trees that to cross them was to die. This was strange to Alia who, when much younger, wondered why the magical barrier extended so far from the city walls. She sat crossing her legs and began to stare at the Grand Palace a place where the writings said the royal family had lived since time immemorial and next to it the majestic spires of the Magicorum where countless generations of magic users had been trained. What was it like to live among such grandeur secure in the knowledge that one could harness all the power around them merely with training? But as always when Alia began to let her mind wander she slipped into thinking how she could rule over the masses and lead them onward or of magnificent duels with finely crafted blades. She shook herself to end that train of thought because it always furthered her growing confusion and depression, and awoke once more the gnawing suspicion she and all the other unmarked were an aberration that would pass as the world righted itself and marked were born once more leaving the unmarked a lapse in the sanity of creation itself.

So focused in her thoughts that she never noticed the old one watching her silently slip away unconsciously tracing the marks on his face as he pondered deep questions and even more deep answers.

Sorry to push this.. but my negative trait seems to be that I was enslaved in the past? That or I got a super lucky roll and my negative trait was extremely weak?

How strong is my agility (jumping) and my camouflage?

I know you are kinda wanting to hide it.. but it really doesn't make much sense.. why would we not understand our own bodies as it were?!

Not hiding it at all, you're people can camoflauge pretty well and jump fairly high (also look at your military desc. they mention that you're peoples are very good at hit-and-run tactics). Your negative traits have not been yet discovered due to your positive traits being recently developed.

As for why you do not understand your own bodies, human beings had no clue about their own inner workings until very recently and new things are discovered every year.

Yes, but I think we would notice a third arm, or the need to drink blood.. I thought these mutations were significant? I guess I will just have to wait and see.. but I can't imagine how even the subtlest mutation would not be noticed within the generation it occurred?

How long will this next update cover?

You're people, as has been noted, blend into their environments very well and possess increased athletic abilities (aiding in their general escape from the Bodomen). Their negative traits have not yet manifested.

Not all mutations are as obvious as having a third arm.

The next update will cover from 450-453.

Sorry if I seem a bit hostile, Abbadon, I've been drinking since friday.

The Sheol mutations are very recent and as such they have not yet had a 'flaw' develop and probably will not for the next few updates. So make use of that bonus for while you can!

Well as long as you don't use that as a cheap way to nerf whatever I do in these first few updates.. :/

So I don't suppose there is any chance of you not using such large fonts in the future? :p It's a trifle, I know, but it looks a bit obnoxious to me.

There are still some instances of Agrota or Agrotal in the stats that you haven't fixed, just to point out. As for the King, re-reading the update, I suppose his name is just Agorta? I was a bit confused on that point earlier. :p I guess this means the oligarchy of "kings" I mentioned in my backstory did not yet manifest itself at this point.

It probably will in the future, though - as I noted, the Bladvenn have a strong natural tendency towards oligarchy.

Yeah, large fonts will be nixed in the future updates (it was only large because I was using Black CfC which, for some reason, makes the text look super small). As for the oligarchy of 'kings' those 'kings' will be introduced in the next update! Note that Agorta began giving out slaves to those he favors, thus ennobling them in a way.

@Abbadon: No, it won't be a cheap way to nerf you. I already have the flaw decided :)
