I was browsing the web and found a new Real time based strategy game called 'Legion'. It apparently has already been released but now a gold version is being released 3/31/03. You play as rome in the middle ages and try to unify them.

The requirements aren't too bad (9.2 or 10.1), although the mhz requirement was open, it recommends 800mhz g4+ (ouch). But thats understandable considering 3d terrain. It looks pretty fun if anyones interested.

I'm familiar w/ the game. I've been waiting on Europa Universalis II which is being distributed by the same company as Legion. The odd thing about Legion's processor requirements is it states any G3/G4 but they recommend 800MHz. That's quite a distance from my 333 MHz.

Legion had very mediocre reviews. I'd wait for EU II if I were you.

I have never heard of Europa Universalis II. (Wrapped up in civ)
Can you post a link to the site? I'd be gratefull:love:
Is Age of empires II any good. I own the first one an I didn't care for it beyond completing all the senarios.
I have been looking for another strategy game for my mac now that I bought some more ram.
P.S. If anybody could use a strip of PCI100 64mb ram, let me know (pm).

Here is a link to some inofrmation about EU2:

I got AoE2 for Christmas, and outside of playing it a half dozen time, I've not become "hooked." Its a fine game, but it lacks any real depth for me.

Have you looked at MoO3? Its received mixed reviews, but a planned patch is addressing the major hitches.

EU2 expected out?

I almost pre-ordered Legion but then read a review of it. :(

It was due in March, but ... alas, not to be. I'm thinking of picking up the PC version for my laptop. I've an old iMac w/ 6GB of harddrive space. My last 600 MB are saved for MoO3.

Having read previews for most of the games mentioned above, I will be: a) waiting for comments from gfeier and djb on MoO3 before I buy; b) eagerly awaiting EU2, but not holding my breath; c) ditto 'Legion'; d) saving for Jaguar/Cougar/Cheater, whatever, 'cos some of my other fave prospects (SimCity4) are not gonna be for OS 10.1.

Civ3 has found resurgence on my hard drive with the Editor and Multi-Figure units, but I want a really fun game and 'Dungeon Siege' or 'Neverwinter Nights' may just be it. I've certainly learned my lesson with Warcraft3 and Stronghold, which were both great for a week or two. Nothing lasts like a turn-based Civ game. [But some of you know that I am really waiting for 'Rise of Nations' to come on over to Mac's place (Oh, and 'Age of Mythology' will be in Peter Tamte's sights as well]. If even one of these makes it to my iMac in the next three months, I'll be very happy (and avoiding my postgrad writing).

Thanks dojoboy for posting the link.
AoE just didn't have a sense of backround, just units thrown into a map attacking buildings, no story. That was made by microsoft, wasn't it? (figures)

I was out today and looked at the box of simcity 4 and it doesn't look to have any mentionable features that simcity 3k doesn't already have. Of course I haven't played it but I wouldn't buy it if you already have simcity 3k. Its all the same concept. But simcity is a good game when your in the mood.

I remember looking at previews at their website for SimCity 4 around I think Christmas time. If I had the cash, and if it was for Mac, I'd still be willing to buy it, mainly for the graphics(although I bet I'd have some lag with my 400 MHz iMac) For those who are familiar with SimCity 3000, some of the improvements made are the concept of 'streets', which are built by your sims, giving the game a pretty realistic feel, since now you won't just have main roads that you build. Also, you and your sims can build on slopes on hills and such. And the terrain editor goes waaaaaayyyyyy past what SC 3k had as a "terrain editor"(I always had to use the terrain editor from SC 2k to get something that I'd like). Also, you can upload actual Sims from your Sims game into it, which allows you to have a very accurate look into the lives of your citizens, seeing what they need and stuff; I think it replaces the newsticker. And even if you don't have the Sims, the game comes with a couple. But I strongly suggest that those of you who have and haven't played previous SimCity games, you should go to their website, http://simcity.ea.com/ , there's a ton of information, because I've just let you see the tip of the iceberg. I'm not trying to sell the game, I just think that you should go to the website and see if this is a game that you'd like to play.

Whew! Just in time, I just downloaded the theme from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (best movie ever) and I'm about to put it into my iTunes library. (for those of you who are beginning to reminisce of this cool song, just use Limewire or what ever you have and search for "Yello-Oh Yeah") And in the meantime, enjoy playing civ while I labor to finish my homework.

It looks like MacPlay will be distributing EU2 later this month! Yay!

Microsoft doesn't make games - they only produce/distribute them. I forget the name of the gaming house that made the game.

But I do agree.

I wouldn't personally. I have played MOO3 a little on my friend's PC and so far it has not proved nearly as interesting as MOO2 was. However, I have only played it a few hours, so I am not an expert at the game or anything. I have heard from my friend, who has played it a lot, that the AI is a joke and very easy to beat. They hope to fix this in an upcoming patch, but there is not really a firm release date set. But that is just my novice opinion of it so far.

I am going to play it some more and see if my opinion improves.
