I think its really cool that Elgalad has a link to his intro post in his sig, so people know who he is when they read his posts.

Since I am often *ahem* misunderstood around these parts, and since I never did formally introduce myself, I have written up a SeleucusNicator FAQ that I wish to post here and then link to in my siggy, much like Elgalad does now.

I presume this is ok with the moderators?
I to have been thinking of creating someting simmilar to what SN and Elgalad. I myself feel that I am kind of misunderstood since I never realy formaly introduced myself to the forums about 2 years ago.

As with SN's question, would it be alright to do so?

I did not introduce me years ago, but I now want officially to announce that I posted on this board for years in Civ3 General and in others forums for a few month by now.

Inside CG's mind

CivGeneral, has often been misunderstood (Mostly because he has not properly introduced myself when I first started posting in this forum). CG have created this FAQ which would hopefully enlighten the OT posters to whom he is and what he stand for and will cause you to flame him less, or at least understand where he is coming from

Who is CivGeneral (CG)?
This nick was created in combination of my old High School nick and the Civilization series games. CivGeneral is a college student from the coast Southeastern Connecticut. He posts mostly in the Demogame forums and slowly coming into the Off-Topic forums, occasionally lurking in other section of the forums.

Ok, what is CG's political stance?
CivGeneral is a registered Democrat. His views are on the moderate quadrant in the politicalcompass.com graph. The major things that CG sides in are: Pro-life, for gay rights, against ridiculous tax hikes, anti-bush (obviously), reducing or eliminating welfare, and anti-Iraq war. CivGeneral is fiscally conservative, which is not a norm for the traditional democrat views. He chose to be a Democrat not only because of family influences, but because he dislikes the Republican's social polices. CivGeneral dislikes being called a conservative (except on Pro-life, and financially), but would rather be viewed as a Liberal Moderate.

Why are you anti-Bush?
CG dislike bush because of what he has done in the latter half of his first term. He disliked the way how Bush made an invasion into Iraq which eventually just lead to the results of lies and murder (No WMDs nor there facilities to construct them and the massacre of innocent civilians). CivGeneral also dislikes the way Bush is manipulating our civil liberties and rights, firstly by passing the Patriot Act that would alow the government to snoop intou our personal lives. Also, with the war in Iraq and the casualties, I fear George W. Bush because he may reinstate the draft once again.

What are CG’s views on America's foreign policy(ies)?
He believes that right now the US should work on repairing relations to other nations that harbor a sense of mistrust and dislike to us due enrapt mainly to the Iraqi war II. CG believes that we should maintain our friendship to our allies.

What does CG think of Gulf War II?
CivGeneral believes that the war in Iraq is a complete nonsense. As stated in "Why are you anti-Bush?” He believes the war in Iraq has more trouble than benefits. He is against the war that has cause so much mass murder to the civilian population. He hates the fact that we have been dropping bombs on Iraqi children, civilian men and women. As with the overthrowing of Saddam, he believe we should have done that back in Gulf War I (1991). CivGeneral believes that Bush is fighting his daddy's war.

Since Bush is very religious, you hate him because you’re an atheist/b]
What is CivGeneral's religion?
Both questions have been combined since it relates to religion
No, I just dislike him because he keeps pushing religion into the state. Believe it or not, CivGeneral is baptized Christian (At the moment is unsure if he was baptized Catholic or Protestant). Since he is not religious and stops attending church at a very young age. CivGeneral declares himself as an agnostic and believes that the existences of a deity are unknown but there is a possibility. Right now CivGeneral is in the "nomadic" stage in his religious journey.

Are you completely over thee 2004 elections?
Nope, I voted for Kerry in the 2004 elections. Even though I was not fond of him, I had to go with the mind set "Anyone but Bush". I believed that the elections should have waited until Ohio has gotten all of there votes tallied up. He views that Ohio is the repeat of the Florida elections back in 2000. Also, what made an impact to him is that this was his first time to participate in the presidential elections (The first election he participated in was in the 2002 Governor’s election)

Is CivGeneral Single
No, he currently has a girlfreind ATM.

I’ve noticed that CivGeneral has a “Karate Status: belt level" in his signature, is he really taking karate
Yes, CivGeneral is taking karate classes and has been for a year in December. Currently his belt is whatever is stated in that signature. CivGeneral always updates his signature to reflect any stripe earnings and belt promotions he has. The style he is studying is Shorin-Ryu.

More questions will surely come in the years up ahead

I'm back. Hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving, Memorial Weekend (that is what it was in the UK two weeks ago, right?) or in general the last two weeks. A few threads are catching my eye already...

This will be my last post here.
I have decided that real life is more important than an internet life.

I enjoyed the discussions with Stapel, Drunk Master, Hitro, Masquerouge, MaisseArsouye, Betazed, Little Raven, Syterion, Cuivinen, Igloodud, Blasphemous, Eyrei, Winner and many others, but IMHO it's time to leave now.

I wish you all the best :)

Good bye :)

Fair winds and following seas, friend.

Goodbye everybody! Tomorrow I'm off to join the army, following the footsteps of other Israeli posters. Sadly I probably won't be able to keep posting here, as I'll only be at home for short periods of time and I want to spend as much of them as I can with my family and friends.

I would like to thanks the forum and the people who run it, thunderfall and the moderators, those who do their work today and those who were here and left.

Finally, I would like to thanks the other posters in this forum. Those who agree with me and those who don't, you have all made this a very good and positive experience. I've learned a lot from you all, throgh arguments and through observation. I truely feel that you have all helped me become a better man.

Goodbye, I wish all of you nothing but good things.

Bye G-Man!
Hope that after your basic training, long course and all, you will find some time in the weekends to post, like me.
Good luck in the army! You'll need it. ;)

By the way, as some people noticed, I'm back to post here from time to time, on weekends (the only time when I'm home).

I need to post here. Mainly to keep a "poster FAQ".
Hello!

About Erik Mesoy

Do you want a box to put me in? European (Norwegian), Christian (Lutheran).

My stances on common issues:
Pro-Choice
Anti-Bush
Pro-Israel
Skeptic (I disbelieve homeopathy, perpetual motion machines, diviners and mediums, as well as effectively all cryptozoological creatures.)

My personality quirks:
  • I tend to play old games. Master of Orion, Warlords 2 and Angband are examples of old games that have kept supreme gameplay.
  • I speak near-perfect English. See two next points.
  • I am international. I hold an American and a Norwegian passport, and have also lived two years in France and four-five years in South Africa.
  • I read a lot. Mainly fantasy books.
  • I have Asperger's Syndrome. Low social skills, high math skills, arrogant, sometimes unaware of nuances. Corresponds to a mild form of autism, and is sometimes described as "extreme male brain" syndrome.
  • I'm an avid gamer, and I am currently helping to develop The Battle For Wesnoth in the roles as scenario designer, translator and occasional artist/unit creator.

This post will be edited occasionally.

The Cuivienen FAQ

Who is Cuivienen?
I am a 16-year-old girl from northeastern New Jersey in the suburbs of New York City. I have lived all of my life in the same town though I have visited 21 other states and 2 other countries (the UK and Ireland).

What are Cuivienen's political leanings?
I am decidedly liberal and a supporter of social democracy. On the Political Compass, I average a -7.00, -6.00.

What are Cuivienen's hobbies?
I play chess, though I no longer attend tournaments. I was last rated at 1613 three years ago. I am an avid reader of all books, especially fantasy, which, of course makes The Lord of the Rings my favorite book. (I am also a Harry Potter fan.) Of course, I play CivIII and SMAC and I post on this forum. I write stories for fun, though none have ever gotten very far except one (and The Fall of Tirani has been stalled for about a year now). I also spend a considerable amount of time at my High School, which runs from 7:30 to 4:30.

Where does the name come from?
Cuiviénen is a place in Tolkien's Middle-Earth mythos. The name is Quenya and translates as "Waters of Awakening;" it was the location where the Elves first "awoke," or appeared.

I have other questions about Cuivienen, can I ask them?
NO! (Of course you can.)

And more politics:

- Pro-Choice
- Neutral on capital punishment
- Pro-Higher Taxes
- Want to redistribute gov't spending (smaller Defense budget)
- Pro-Gay Marriage
- Anti-Iraq War

I have other questions about Cuivienen, can I ask them?
NO! (Of course you can.)
How do have enough time to play all those NESes, SGs, and I'm guessing you're in some PBEMs too? :mischief:
