OFW1 Science and Industry

The great library won't do us much good if we don't know anyone. In my current singleplayer regent game I was stuck on an island with the iroquois, I got lit; than the GL and bought Map making from the iroquois. When I found India and got most of the contacts no one had literature! In fact, no one bothered to get it for some reason! Maybe the luck I had will follow me into this game ;)

Here are some non RCP spots we should consider once we get our core (ring placed cities) up :

NonRCPspots.jpg

Edit : Woops, seems as if the Magenta and turquoise dots near pasarg are places 3 and 4. Disregard them.

But once we have the Great Library, it will start working for us whenever we make contact with the rest of the world; the contacts don't have to come first. And from the standpoint of our 20K cultural goal, getting the Library's six cultural points (after 1000 years, twelve) per turn in Pasargadae is indispensable.

OK I think I'm up. I'll play tonight.

I agree we need MM and boats now. It's the highest priority.

I agree, with you Northern Pike, definately we need to have the Great Library, as you said when we meet other civs we will get (hopefully) alot of techs. I think we should definately finish the Oracle. Then If we have not discovered literature at that point build Temple, otherwise build order Oracle, Temple, Great Library, Library, Hanging Gardens?(This probably all would not be possible, but we could hope.)
anyway, I had not been here yesterday at all, and don't know how early today I can get back.

You are up mad-bax, (unless of course there is a lurker about who would like to join our quest?)

Edit:.. I did not see the last page before I changed this.

Also prebuild great lighthouse in Arbela sounds great, Increased naval movement from this would be great when we have to exterminate.:D

I still think our main priority should be getting Map making than lit. Map making is more expensive and will allow us to see other civs. We can start a prebuild for the great library so if the other civs already researched Lit we can buy it and still get the Great Library. Heck if we're lucky we can nab BOTH GL's.

I agree with DI that we have to get off our island. For 20K the Great Library is very important, but it is unrealistic to expect ot get both GL's. I would suggest we go for the G.Library, as it gives 6cpt and 12 when doubled. G,Light is a measly 2 cpt.

Turns:

1500: Worker turns

1475: Barb horse apears. Have to move a couple of workers and warriors around to minimise risk.

1450: Found Tarsus --> Warrior
Persepolis Settler --> Settler

1425: Warrior kills horse (loses 2HP)

1400: Susa --> Worker

1375: Decide to abandon RCP and settle Gordium. This was based mainly on the poor land. Hope I didn't annoy people too much.

1350: Persepolis settler--> Settler
Susa Warrior --> Worker

1325: Susa Worker --> Warrior
Learn Writing, research MM in 21 @70%

1300: Warker joins Pasargadae

I concentrated on getting the Susa game chopped and irrigated on this turn as it will now be a huge worker/warrior pump. I know it has a rax but I wanted to get a couple of workers out to join to the 20K town to get its size and production up. I would not object to 3 or 4 more workers being joined to this city even knowing what it will do to our luxury slider.

I haven't posted a shot as it's the same as the last one except with a couple more towns on it. :)

I finished my turn at the end of 1275BC rather than the beginning of 1250BC so the next up can double check b4 hitting Space.

Here is the save.

Hey guys we're doing great. We just need to get off this island.

So, Disruptive you are up, I still find it really hard to believe we got stuck with no lux resources. Remember, there is 60% land and only 10 civs on this large world, so If we go mapmaking, maybe, just maybe, we could get some resources, on some nearby land before we have to war?

Try this.

If this link does not work, I was able to find OFW1_1275_BC.sav in the downloads5 folder. just go there.

Mad-bax, if you decided the time had come to abandon RCP with the founding of Gordium, no problem--your turn, your call. But did Tarsus go where you really intended? Where it is, it has four useless (I mean forever harbourless) water tiles rather than the two we'd intended to accept at site 3, and will never have access to that third BG.

I like the idea of merging workers into Pasargadae.

So, I forgot I was up next. Thats ok though I did not have time yesterday, I could play the ten turns today, but If You(DisruptiveIdiot) wish to play next go for it, then I could pick up the next turn on Tuesday.

I don't have my disk with me at work so I can't check the save. I hope it wasn't a mistake, but it could have been. I'll check the save tonight, and offer my sincere apologies then.

I make lots of mistakes, but I would be embarrassed if I had made one that silly. :blush:

Real life, what is that? I might have to cut way down on my plaing as I might be laid off at work and then I might go back to school.

Okay, I will try to play today after work, but... I happen to be a huge Football fan and the Hall of Fame game is on tonight, so I will have just more than 1 hour after work to do the turns(being early in the game I think I might be able to accomplish this) or I could play them after all the 3rd stringers are in the game:)

got the save, will play tomorrow afternoon, evening.

Take your time; if you can't do it tomorrow do it the day after. Rushing this early in is a bad thing you might make a mistake that you wouldn't make if you were concentrating.

Oh, I think I have time tonight to do 10 turns. and hopefully all goes well:)

Here is the Save
The Save
Here is my ten turns

Preturn, I check everything, I don't like where Gordium is, here is why, I doubt anyone could see the shadows until after Gordium was founded, because we had not explored thouroghly on that coastline. I saw a shadow of a fish and after further exploration I believe I see a Shadow of a Whale. Unless we settle a city 2 spots from Gordium, we will not be able to partake of these fabulous fish and Whale!. However, this also would not be next to the fresh water source, so.. anyway. Not trying to make anyone mad at me, just Noticed this. And besides, I'm not the best player, in fact I probably have won the least amount of games of all 4 of us, so If I am out to lunch, just say so:D

1. 1250BC Perseopolis Settler>Settler. Found Bactra near site 6(from original dotmap) This will be able to share Fish with Arbela. and possibly another northern city?! Start Temple.Lux Slider to 30%/Science 70%, we are at -2gpt.

5. 1150BC Perseoplolis Settler>settler. (Sweet job on the settler factory:goodjob: ) We have an unhappy person in Arbela and I don't like it, Iwhip her to death and VOILA!! A Temple next turn:evil: and I don't have to change the lux slider!

I started to send another Warrior up towards Sidon to help defeat the barbs(The next person may want to take the warrior out of Bactra to help quicker) I did not join any workers to Pasargadae, as it is hard enough keeping them happy, while trying to research to get off this godforsaken piece of land:aargh:

We are 3 turns from Map Making and I placed 3 cities all on the coast, feel free to chamge what I started in those cities to galleys.

Good luck and I do think we are doing well:goodjob:

Good building turn, OneFastWarrior. :goodjob:

I consider myself a big NFL fan, but...treating an exhibition game as a serious commitment? Whoa. You're in a class by yourself. :D
