Oh, the weather outside is...

Argh, it looks like I'm crap with NZ geography, the High Country is far south of where I meant. We were near Hanmer Springs – through Cannibal Gorge, Ada Pass, Waiau Valley, and Fowler's Pass. 3 day tramp in total.

Ah haven't been to that area.

Warm & wet - this September is about to become the warmest in recorded history which is only news in the sense that it's not really news anymore as every other month is breaking some sort of record.

On Oct 14 Albuquerque will be dead center on the path of the Annular eclipse and it will be during our annual Balloon Fiesta. Mass ascension in the morning followed by the eclipse at 10:30!

Finally, autumn weather.

First frost of autumn caught me off guard during the week. Had to scrape the ice off the car.

Finally, autumn weather.
That looks like a decent weather report, although the temperatures seem a bit high for October. Today's got mostly blue sky with wispy cirrus clouds, and it's a bit chilly. To be expected, though, since it's rained a bit lately and at this time of year rain can easily turn to snow.

We haven't had snow yet, and I haven't heard that we've even had first frost (that's usually in September). Or maybe it happened and I just didn't notice because I hardly go anywhere anymore. The leaves have gone through their fall colors stage and while some trees still have yellow leaves, a lot are now bare or nearly bare. There's a bunch of spruce trees in the grassy area between here and the street, though, so I've got those to look at. It's rather cool when they get snow on them.

According to the Weather Network we're getting temperatures around 17C on Sunday afternoon. Maybe I'll head over to the mall. Maddy's nearly out of her favorite cat food.

I had that a week ago Thursday but no real signs of winter here in (relative) south. We'll get more rain - I think the last rain-free day was some three weeks ago though the amount of water we've been getting isn't that much. In the North the ski resorts have opened this weekend with preserved snow but they've had the first proper snowfall as well. I don't mind an early winter but the transition period should be bare minimum, that's the crappy part. Daily high temps are currently ~10C.

Sunny and in the 80s today.

Winter arrived yesterday. It's not snowing right now, but it snowed a lot earlier.

I guess it couldn't have held off for just one more week? I have an appointment I need to go out for tomorrow, and now I need to find the broom I use to clean the snow off the wheels on my walker.

I envy this.
We are moving the clocks to winter time next week while outside it is still 30 degrees.

It's not the temperatures I mind. There was hardly any wind that day so it really wasn't anything worse than a little chilly - dress in layers, have a toque and gloves in case the wind picks up (I didn't need them but had them tucked in a pocket), wear sensible shoes, and get on with the day.

What I do mind is the snow and ice. Nobody had shoveled or cleared the ice, so it made it difficult and dangerous to get around. I take disabled transit, so fortunately the drivers were willing to help me get over the ice safely.

Winters last gasp. Eondy, cold snow and hail up high.

Very rarely random weather

Had to break out a proper coat this morning: 33F/0.5C when I left the house, just before dawn.

Weather is pretty lame. There's no wind at all (and this has been happening for months, with very few exceptions). And still days get to 20 degrees. Sucks that the seasons were ruined.

Are you actually complaining about warm weather? :crazyeye:

If you want wind, you can have some of our politicians. They're constantly full of hot air.

"Thunderstorms" forecast yesterday. The rain came heavy today (for Chch standards), then cleared up like nothing happened. Life as usual, except for the thunderstorm warning... almost could be a normal day, I guess those guys over in Metservice or NIWA or something wanted to shake things up or something.

The rain would make me sleepy, but I had insomnia last night, which somehow made me more awake today despite less sleep. Yay?
