We open windows almost every night in the summer. 90 plus daytime temps drop to the 60s most nights and it cools the house off nicely. We close them up about 9:00 AM. High desert lifestyle.

It's raining again now but we've had a really long dry spell hereabouts. Was even a substantial risk of forest fires which is pretty uncommon up here.

Here in the Phils, a seemingly unending string of typhoons, etc., east of the Phils & heading for Hong Kong, continue to drag moisture & wind across the country.

Yeah, from what I can tell from the meteorological discussion on Wunderground it's not gonna be any fun. It may be extratropical by the time it reaches you but if the eye passes over your house you will probably be experiencing some hurricane-force winds regardless.

I'd make preparations for possibly losing power if I were you.

There's a hurricane south of California which isn't really affecting us much. I'm surprised they call it a hurricane though, I thought they called all cyclones in the pacific typhoons.

Eastern pacific still mostly called hurricanes AFAIK.
