Oh, the weather outside is...

Nice sunny day after the hurricane. All is well at my house now that I have power again.

Welcome back, Lemon Merchant.:wavey:

We have Tropical Depression, directly east of us, moving northwest. It will hook to the right and leave us alone.

We're having some strong gusty winds, and maybe some scattered showers this weekend.

Before tonight's T storm, we had .15 inches of rain in the last 10 days as measured in our backyard.

Tropical Depression Marilyn is sucking in wind and moisture from all across the country. We're having a massive birthday party here Saturday night. The folks coming from Cebu Island are stuck there until our winds die down. :(

Last night's Thunder storm produced .07 inches of rain.

Thanks. :)

Hope your tropical depression doesn't amount to much.

:gripe:Rain & wind this morning. We went into Tag & picked up Keejee's grandmother & sister for the party. Two other kids were also supposed to come but their parents wouldn't let them because of the waves. The ship departed late, again because of the waves. The weather in Tag was pretty nice, lots of blue skies and some scattered light showers.

We drove home and . Rain and huge winds for hours. :run: It was as if were were at the eye-wall of the storm which is on the other side of the country. :shake:

Second night in a row of heavy lightening and very LOUD thunder between 3 and 4 am. Very tired this morning.

It's 18 hours later, and the winds are still crazy. The storm is far away and is only a tropical depression, so I can't explain this. :dunno:

According to predictions, Marilyn is about to make a U-turn to the left and move west between the Philippines and China, so things here should stay the same for several days. Our Cebu guests might not be able to leave.

On the bright side, we haven't lost power. High wings always knock out our power. :dubious: Also. neither coconuts nor fronds have been ripped out of our trees. :whew:This is all very strange. :crazyeye:

We have had high temperatures in the 90s almost every day this month. We have not yet reached 100, but a couple days ago the high was 99 and today the high was 98. Tomorrow we are expecting a milder 87 degrees (with a little cloud cover and a chance of rain in the evening), before going back into the low to mid 90s again next week.

I believe we are now up to 76 days of 90+ degree weather this year, whereas the previous record was only 37 days above 90 degrees in any single year.

About a quarter of the days in the past few weeks were hotter than that date had ever been in any year since record keeping began. Today was only the hottest day September 13th since 1991, but yesterday was the hottest September 12th since 1919. The humidity yesterday and the day before was low enough that the heat index was below the real temperature though, which is unusual in Georgia.

We had a couple of days down in the 70's but it shot back up to the mid-90's yesterday and will stay that way through the weekend. :(

Summer just won't end here, but I feel like summer lasts four or five months in Oklahoma (and the whole Mid-Upper South) anyway. There's summer-lite from mid-May to June and in September, where it's generally in the 80s F or low 90s F (27-34C) and a moderately humid. It's decent weather for being outdoors or in the pool and is typical summer weather for the Northern US. Then there's high summer in July and August where it's generally above 90F (32C) during the day, with heat indexes often (maybe about half the time) maxing out above 100F (38C). Since we've been getting summer-lite weather and not high summer weather, it's not too unpleasant, but I'm ready for it to start feeling more like fall.

Also I wonder where Valka D'Ur is. I'm waiting for her to say she had a hard freeze and light snow but that it's just normal September weather in Alberta.

Well, it's State Fair time so that means at least one rainy day on a weekend. Today must be it. Cloudy, cool, damp all day and it did rain: .16 inches. No sun kept everything damp though. Sunday though is also laundry day regardless of the weather. Clothes on the line mostly dried, We hung the sheets inside though so they could be used tonight. success!

Dengue fever has spread to our island. The governor ordered that, this morning, residents burn tree branches, leaves, grass, seaweed etc. to drive the mosquitoes off. Today we has an all-encompassing grey pall, a lot like the Los Angeles I grew up in. [cough]
