Because when I compare him to Hitler, it's trolling.

Incidentally, I'm sure Bush, Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot would all agree with the incarceration of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, or excessively curbing freedom in the name of "fighting terrorism", for example.

Its trolling because the comparison is so idiotic. But in this type of thread where Hitler would be obviously a 1, with Bush being something significantly higher number, its actually on topic.

and Dude....if you cant see the difference in Gitmo and the Killing Fields, or a soviet gulag, or german death camp, well, there is just no help for you then.

How stupid.

Geeze, Bush isn't Hitler, so he deserves a 4.

********.

1 --> worst president ever.

I took it as equal to the worst president ever as 1 which is why I went for -5. :p:)

Actually, I think they would have found more in common with Prime Minister Salisbury. What with the Boer concentration camps and whatnot.

Maybe the reasoning is that Hitler was, for a while, quite skilled at being a leader and indeed leading the population on to a goal he set. Skill in appointing the right people for the job that is and playing the political field, and heeding advice.

I'd say that in the 30's Hitler could be rated pretty high.

I don't think I can make an informed decision without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. I'll save my judgment for another 4 years.

I dunno. I would give him a 4, I guess. Somewhat worse than average (whatever "average" is in America), but a lot better than the Hitlers and Stalins and Pol Pots and countless other evil people who would get a 1. I'm looking at this based on the War in Iraq (bad), War in Afghanistan (good), foreign policy in general (..eh-could be worse, but could be better), the economy (again, ...eh), and what's been going on domestically (good, but illegal immigration and a massive fundamentalist movement have brought it down).

An interesting question is formed. Who is worse the one who is extremely competent at rallying people after his ideals and causes under one objective , but that objective is so flawed that causes only destruction for his country and his people. Or one who is so incompetent that he can not even do this.

I think both Bush and Hitler are in the first category. Only Hitler's objective was much more unrealistic and destructive than Bush foreign policies plans and so i do believe that Hitler is worse than Bush. The interesting thing though is that they are comparable not due to the scale that their objectives where destructive . But they are in an other regard. Because people by the passing of the years came to understand them as very bad leaders because they succeeded at their destructive objectives.

He was your Prime Minister during the Boer Wars in South Africa.

Oh dear god!? Have i ever known him, did i vote him in, NO, so stop comparing Brits today with Brits of yesteryear. Why, I might just mention the various massarces of the Red Indians in the 18th and 19th century while we are at it and compare Americans to those Americans 150 odd years ago .

It's kind of like bringing up the fact that a German is part of a nation that was fascist and that your gran probably voted for Hitler. Totally and utterly irrelevant. The sins of the father are the sins of the son sometimes, but when it's 50+ years after you are born it's a bit of a generation gap, and 100 years, that's not even sensible. :)

Calm down, calm down. Someone made a comparison of Hitler and Bush due to Gitmo. I simply pointed out a more likely comparison would have been with Salisbury (Because of the whole concentration camp thing). I wasn't trying to demonize anyone or cast any shadows on you Brits.

@Sidhe: Even voting for Hitler during that time isn't much of a sin.

Many of us, found in the same situation, not knowing the future, would also have voted for Hitler.

Hmm you are right, but you can see his point can't you, a bit extreme i grant you but i and hopefully everyone else here can see his point.

Well thats alright then :)

I might well of voted for Hitler, at least when you still could. ;)

The man was anti-commie and pro strong Germany. No way you could know he would overthrow democracy and institute a fascist state, after calling shenanigans on the burning of the Reichstag.

"I like Mr Hilter's policies, especially what he says about the coons, but then again I am a bit mental.:crazyeye:"

Name that sketch. :D

1.

I really can't think of anything positive he did that wasn't screwed up by something else he did. Eg Afghanistan; screwed up by his little adventure in Iraq.
