Onan's multisession G&K, Alternate Reality Game (8pm in Auckland, GMT +13)

Well, it will end eventually, by consensus as it were. Not by premature victory condition. It'll be more like a good long shag than a quickie, with lots of little...triumphs along the way. :cringe:

Okay you two romantics...looking forward to Saturday, hmm? :mischief:

Has anyone checked out the scheduled event in the steam group to see if it shows at the correct time zone for you?

Tabarnak and Foffaren still missing as members, Brenador too--I think I've already sent you invites to the group, but let me know if you need another. That takes us up to ten members (including zalta)...so an eight player game is looking like a real possibility.

Not sure if there is time for a good long shag with E. Not with so many potential warmongers in the game. (Yeah I went there.)

Forgot to join the group last night. I'll fix it... later.

I subscribed.

if u need 1 more to get an even number i ll proly be around and was looking forward to get my ass kicked by tabarnak since quite some time anyway :)

You're welcome to join us, Tommy, as long as you can be consistent with finishing games once they've started. A game like this would probably run at least 3-4 sessions, and maybe as many as 7-8 or more, depending on what occurs. So that would be a month or two of weekly games at the same time. I say this because last time you joined one of these, we couldn't find you for the 2nd or 3rd session, and had to abandon that game.

I'm not saying it's definite to happen, but I had the feeling that 1 or 2 players new to the series MIGHT not show in the 2nd round or later, so it doesn't hurt if we are screwed once again and have to either restart or play an AI.

However, punctuation is the only requirement in this series, so shall we draw a line starting with this new series?

Tommy, I'm happy for you to join us if you can commit to the whole game. "I'll probably be around" as you said, doesn't really cut it. Are you ready to step up? Say you are and will be available at that time for 4-8 weeks, and you're in.

I think you mean being on time?

Reliability and consistency is the key, since one player not turning up can frustrate everyone else.

Any players not making the starting session are welcome to sub in later sessions, but hopefully that won't be necessary.

Well there is always random events that can prevent one of us to play one time or another. I'm not 100% sure that i will ALWAYS be here on Friday nights. If only we could have another day in the week to agree to play once a time to accelerate everything.

Of course, in this case, 6 players games are much more easier to create. For 8 players, it's better to have a couple of days potentially free during weeks to come to at least have a chance to finish a game( add time to reload games due to unstability ...but doable...i hope)

If that happens we can explore Sunday (Saturday your time), or we can skip that week.

I hope each session can last longer, maybe 3hours or more? But I guess it depends

Some players have said they can't commit to weekdays due to work.

Joined the group, ready to go for Saturday morning (my time). As I said, the only thing that is for me to do is potentially assist the wife with our child at times. As long as I cook her breakfast before hand, she'll be in a good enough mood to let me veg-out in front of the computer for a few hours without complaint.

That's fine, we've always had some flexibility. With more players though, nailing it down a little more should help keep it going...but of course real life will still happen. Just trying to set the bar high for the new guys.

Just saw a post in another thread...I can only use DX9, only option when I load up. I hope this does not create problems, post patch.

I'm curious how the steam group announcement works for those who were offline, and whether the event sent any notification when created, or if you have to go to the right tab to notice it. We will meet in the group chat room five minutes early, tomorrow.

I did not receive any notification for the schedule, but I checked the scheduled time is correct there.

Maybe you can quickly run a small game tonight to test your DX9 and solve any problem that you may have?

That's a good idea, I can jump on tonight around the usual hour and run a quick test with whoever is online. The post I noticed was Tab mentioning how DX 10/11 are better for MP post patch, and DX9 causes problems.

It's a bug. Reinstall civ5 and steam. This takes about 2 hours with standard cable internet speed. It solved the problem to me a couple of months ago.
