Yes, we should have nation stats and "faction stats". Or maybe character stats as well, if that's not too much to update.

Anyway, what did we decide? A random map, extending over time, one playable nation like in a democracy game, a republicesque form of government, factions, possibility to form coalitions between factions. Doesn't look too bad to me.

Another idea has come to mind. What if we were to have more than one faction state. It would make conflicts more interesting, as you could have war between two of the factions in different countries, but the countries themselves might not necessarily be at war. Also, you should always have one partially solidified government that would, in part, control and regulate the laws within the factions. :D

The only thing I want (as a person who came up with the idea) is to set the game in a Greek/Roman(Fantasy)-like city-state environment. You get the idea I think. We could make new NESes in other environments later after we tried how this idea works (or doesn't).
@Das could you draw a map :). Needs to be something like Italy or Greece...

First thing, I think ALL players must be one country. NPC's should also exist as somthing against our country.
Other than that I think that if a familiy want a major land part of the real country they need to earn it or conquer it. For example Scipii conquered their lands in Rome to be counted as a familiy who controlls real lands.

Other than that I think famliy stats should have leader figure, and the whole familiy tree that is alive. Also importan figures that died might be noted for honor.

Honor if I'm talking about it, could be a stat... Oh and maybe not all Families should have their own lands? Why not some are actualy only senators or generals, and not controllers of land... Thats what I wanna be :D

I think one PC country is a very good idea. Otherwise everyone will separate and start their own states. Not nice. And also as Erez said families do not have to control entire lands. They could be citizens in Rome (or whereever) controlling only thoer houses or maybe even some trade posts, but nothing majour. Roman system of patronage and suchlike could be also usefull where whole cities became clients of one familty (like Siracusa wanted with Marzells in 2nd Punic War)....

Sorry, have no time for the right now. Maybe erez... And anyway, just what sort of a map?

Nevermind then :)
A map of a peninsula with rivers (everything is relatively large scale). Mountain ranges would also be good. But again we are only starting. No hurry.

How's this? I called he penisola Latia for now.
Should I name rivers and everything? I can, but it will take quite a time..

In Geographical map, bright green-open grassland, dark green-forests, yellow-deserts.

I left Political map empty for now, I'll make soe ideas for countries.

This will also need to have no borders... cause they will tackle with the mountains into no good...

The map is great, but I'd replace mountains with brown areas.
I came up with a number of stats now as soon as I come home I'll type them .

Not on the political map...

So no mountains on Political map? btw I'll still leave mountains as they are in the Geoghraphy map... Cause on mountais there are forests and grass lands, so showing one on one is hard if mountains are brown blobs...

Ok here are the stats I came up with. As (again) an example I will use Rome or Rome-like environment.

First there are family stats. These are the player stats. They should inuclude names (player, hero(?), family name), number of family members (that you can rely on totally) and wealth. Wealth could include a number of things. Wealth can be actual money, luxuries or luxurious goods, companies owned or trade posts owned. Wealth can also include other goods that a family posesses including weapons. As for governmental posts I think 1 name should be able to occupy all family posts. No need to introduce 10-15 different PC controlled people, unless for the storyline. In Rome some people occupiede more than 1 posts. Or just say a certain posts belong to X family.

City Stats:
There would probably be a lot of cities and small villages on the map. Each settlement should (IMO) have borders that this city controlles (outside walls) and these could be changeable by peace treaties. Now to stats:
First: population. Population could include ethnicity and/or social status (slaves, plebs, patricians etc).
Second: Goods produced. There are a ton of goods that can be important for gameplay. Virtually any of the following: foods (vegetables, meat, fish), luxiries, weapons, commodity goods, construction material (wood, rock), wine etc.
3. Military: each city harbors or makes a garrison. Here stats could be: number of men (ethnicity), weapons avaliable, armour avaliable, free weapons and armour, siege engines, ships (?)
Treasury: everything that a city has
Buildings?

Army stats:
A special post should be reserved in the beginning for field armies. Each army gets one "stat group" (like a country under NPCs)
Here stats should be:
- number of men (ethnicity(?)): warriors, helpers+equipment (weapons, horses)
- commanders (family commands part of the army)
- army storage: food to feed the army, plundered stuff

Former camps and armies should appear on the map

Government:
There should be a post for laws adopted and a post of current families occupying govt. posts. Somewhere also should be written "powers and responsibilities of such and such post". Those cound change as well.

Map
Should as I already said be very detailed and big scale.
Physical features: rivers, mountains,forests
Man made: Cities, fortifications, armies, roads
Other: city borders, ruins (?), diffent important buildings like oracles or temples
We could also add farms and outside the city factories or estates.

Other states and our state
should have a post with their stats, but those should have less stats and be changed less frequently. They should have parameters like our state adn some stats of big cities

Our state would be the capital so "Capital stats" would also be the city stats as all our small cities are in theory just allied to us.

Thats about all :). Of course this is a draft and thats how I picture this game in ideal setup. Not going to come out like that 100%. So I welcome your ideas and views. I just posted this to get the feel of what kind of stats might be there.

I suggest that we name our proud city-state "Nessos".

Not bad really.

Anyhow:
2000 BC (150 FC - From Construction (of Nessos)). The proud people of Nessos have overthrown the tyrannical local barbarians, and established the world's first city state and first republic. Its aristocracy is at first a rather loose affair, mostly consisting of different respected individuals and of mercenary captains called to the battle against the Barbarians. However, debates begin. Expand across Latia? Into the islands? Not expand at all? There is fear that the latter option will allow some other power to rise to power. But the other two... how will the new lands be managed? And what if some other power is indeed encountered? Will Nessos depend on mercenaries, or form an army of its own? The turning point is here.

VERY GOOD WORK, Erez, but can you add a few more islands?

Btw, I too might give suggestions for nations and "random events".

I'll add more islands :)

BTW should I mak a political map? Won't take long, just delete all mountains and add borders cities, their borders and PC country and NPC's.

BTW Rome color was red... should Nessos be Green instead? Would look cool... some middle green.

The Political map with names! (got one without names).
OOC: Please don't laugh at the names! It's not easy to think on brand new city names from scratch! Also all new islands are Grassland...

I can also write a small history of the wars with the Arkedian tribes...

Oh I forgot to add! Areas around cities are their influence area, areas with out main city influence would be more open to rebellions and easier to conquer for no city garrison to defend them (city garrison would walk on all city area to defend)

Erez I now believe this idea is going to work! :goodjob:!
The map is very good, although I assume this is big scale right? If thats the case we can place roads and other important objects.
So I think we have only 2 things still needed.
1. Finalize the stats. This would need a lot of work. What stats do we actually need or don't need? I could do this if you do not mind. I'll post stats for every part of teh game separately.
2. Who's gonna be the mod? :) We need somone experienced and with some free time on his/her hands.

Scratch the map... We begin smaller...

DAS you need to get some chat software to ;)

We'll we are so far trying to figure out what the stats and the map should look like (me and Erez)....
