Ongoing problem connecting to CFC

I can access both.

Good to know... Those are both sites hosted by our host.

There are a few things we could try, like changing the IP address of the server. But that's not trivial and I'm not sure when our host want to try that... I will keep you guys updated.

I was also suffering from this problem, but I found a solution that works! I don't remember anymore where I read it, but from somewhere somebody adviced that turning off the hardware firewall on a Thompson router might work, and it did. Do any of the other who have problems have Thompson router?

Good to know that I'm not the only one having this issue, as a side note guys I had a modder post the links to the files hosted on civfanatics to me directly in an email and those DID work, though no other links or parts of the site here were able to be accessed, I don't know if that will help to track down what's going on but wanted to mention it

Is that download link on civfanatics.com or civfanatics.net?

CFC is a truly wonderful place, but I'm not sure it is worth dropping your firewall to access it. :(

Ok, more things for you to try:

Can you access either http://www.atomicgamer.com/ or http://www.linuxgames.com/

?

I can see both sites, but if I click on their links to CFC, I get nothing.

I would think this has to be an ISP-related problem, possibly our DNS are not resolving the domain name for some reason or another. Have people reporting the problem shared ISPs?

Is there an IP address we could try to connect with instead of the domain?

I cannot use any proxy portals at home, but could someone suggest a DNS server I could try? I recall being able to set a custom DNS in I.E. to resolve temorary problems when a domain changed IPs in the past.

I'm also having problems accessing this site. I'm using an internet proxy at the moment. This the error message I'm getting in Firefox:

Network Timeout
The server at www.civfanatics.com is taking too long to respond.

And in Internet Explorer:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

So it's definitely not a browser problem. Don't remember when this problem started, since I haven't visited this site in a while, but it's been at least a week or so.

I can ping civfanatics.com, and it does resolve to 208.111.158.15. It seems I can connect to civfanatics.com (it says "Connecting to civfanatics.com" in the status bar instead of "Looking up civfanatics.com"), but it just times out or something.

I can access civfanatics.net
I can access atomicgamer.com
I can access linuxgamer.com
I cannot access eqforge.com (can ping it though)
I cannot access myinternetproxy.com (can't ping it, but it does resolve to an IP address)

I'm living in Seattle at the moment. My IP address is 67.182.130.213 and my (apartment-provided) ISP is Comcast Cable. I can't manage my router so I can't disable the router firewall. Cookies are enabled.

Needless to say, this is very perplexing.

Same: the reply button link did not work.

Well isn't that interesting? My ISP is also Comcast.

Mine is Charter Communications.

I would think several people here would be using Comcast since they're one of the biggest cable companies in the US. . .
