I just emailed you doc file with tracert. I added IP to the C: ... drivers file, turned off any programs that might be blocking the site and it did not help.

bump. Still no response - if there a fix TF?

I sent your tracert log to my host, but he said the server is not blocking anything from your IP.

Me too. That is, the problem of intermittently waiting a while to view a thread, submit a post, or preview a post after clicking the appropriate link/button. Exactly twenty minutes prior to this post, I waited over a minute to preview the post I made in the interracial marriage OT thread, while my Firefox browser showed "waiting for forums.civfanatics.com" and in the meantime I opened up a second browser and hit a few other websites, so I'm pretty certain it's not operator error, my workstation, browser, ISP, or bandwidth.

Happened again this morning a couple min ago. Used a direct link to the OT forum with no problem, but clicking on the "right wing blowhard" thread got me "waiting for forums.civfanatics.com" for at least 30sec (and no response), I meanwhile right-clicked to open the caller-ID thread in another window, that stayed blank and the first one didn't do anything for another 60sec or so, meanwhile I opened another Firefox window and browsed refdesk.com, polycom.com, and newegg.com all while the two CFC windows continued to be stalled. Then they both came up 10-20sec after I closed the other 3 websites' windows.

I have an odd problem and have had it for months and I am giving up on solving it myself.

I can't visit CivFanatics at my house. When I am at work and have a few spare minutes, I can visit the site and browse the forums. However, at home if I navigate to the site (or search it through Google) I get an error, basically the 'cannot access the site - either it does not exist or you are not connected to the Internet' variety.

I have never had this problem with another website where time didn't resolve it in a day.
I can bring my work laptop home and try navigating here and the bookmark/search won't work, so it's not any bizarro issue with my home computer.

Obviously, this is some kind of problem with my home network or ISP, but I am at a loss for tools to try to resolve it, can anyone suggest anything?

Have you inadvertently added it to a blocked list in the browser settings or anti-viri programme?

I removed the forum's banned IPs.... Give it a try and let me know if it helps or not....

(I doubt this would help....)

Also, can someone tell me how to BLOCK cfc?

I have not that I am aware of, but since the site will not work on my home computer and my work laptop only when I am at home (but functional from the office) leads me to believe its not the likely cause as they have different installed A/V and Spam filtering programs managed separately.

Ha, just noticed that there was such a thread. I never made it down far enough to see a Site Feedback forum down here.

I'll do some of the things discussed there and see if we get anywhere.

If you have trouble connecting to the site, you can try going to http://www.eqforge.com/

We are pointing it to the forums to see if it makes any difference.

This doesn't help. :( Oh, I tried pinging both civfanatics.com, eqforge.com, and telefragged.com; timed out for all three. Which is odd, because I can still access telefragged.com via the browser....

Did not help me either. But internetproxy.net works just fine...
