Ok, this is mainly Corns idea, but as im a cheap bastard, im putting it into practise.

Yes communist are better...

...I'm thinking about starting an OT Communist Club. But I don't know if there will be a big enough response.

What do you think??? Would you join such a club? We could run our own Communist Country We can call it "The Great Communist Country" or "CornEmpire" for short.
But really...we could discuss world and political decisions from a communist viewpoint and run an iminganry country. I think it would be loads of fun. But it would need more than one member. We could discuss Government structure at that time...but I feel that a panel of leaders all with equal power and different areas of responsibility would be best.

I'm of no political persuasion and I am not about to change that.

However I some questions. Am I right in assuming it's OK to be openly a communist in your countries? I notice none of these countries is the US - Corn is from Canada. Is this just because communism is no longer seen as a threat? And are your countries as tolerant about, say, national socialism, or is that still too much of a pariah?

Just interested as I'm pretty neutral about these things.

In fact, most of the people here are openly socio-democratic (a little bit to the right)... however, hard-liners tend to go near what it is called "communism".
Provinces in Canada control the health care and the education system. ---> Every Canadian citizen has to go to public hospitals...
Therefore, it can be assumed that Canadians live under a socio-democracy from a political point of view.
However, since there is a lot of trade (mainly US) and business are not regulated whatsoever (except some --- dairy farmers, etc.), it is a capitalist country on an economic point of view.

I think here in Canada people are more tolerant to hard-line leftists than to hard-line rightist (except Alberta province and maybe Saskachewan).

Actually, I'm living in the US. But I have no friends. So not a lot of people know....but my Canadian friends know...and if they don't, they must be blind of deaf. :crazyeyes

Heh, have any of youse seen 'cats and dogs', (ok, i had 2 see it with my gf ok?), coz theres this really funny part, when they send this russian cat into get this stuff. and he has to break down this big metal door, so hes like fitting explosives to it, and he says, 'bloody american junk door....' **** it was funny.

PS, I'm not "Big Brother". Well, not exactly. I have not dealt with anything like that in over 2 years, but I can tell you it was both impressiv and astounding what could be done, and I only presume it has improved. Human eyes never see 99.9999% of "sniffed" packets, though. Computers process and flag it, and this forum and context would not trigger further action. Quite probably, it is not even stored except temporarily for computer analysis.

Not a scare, though. Just reality in this age. I'd presume the analysis response threshholds have been lowered in recent weeks, BTW.
