Have you ever found a forum that is better than this one? Better than this on a specific issue (this forum's specific issue is Civ)? Better than this forum for social-political discussions? Better than this forum for diverse opinions? Forum that contains better debaters than this forum? In fact, do you even look for other forums?

I, for one, have not found a forum as diverse or intelligent as this one. I have found ones that contain as much or more information about their subject - a White Stripes or a Cowboy Bebop forum come to mind - but none of them contain as good Off-Topic debates as these. I don't usually look for other forums except to find out topic-specific information...

How about you?

Having recently served a ten day rip for misbehavior :nono: :spank: :wallbash:  I spent some time in search of another forum to kill time at, but nothing I found compares to this environment, on-topic or off...

:rotfl:

BTW, that link will probably be closed. Still, metalhead, don't you think you're being a little cocky (HAH!) by calling it large?

:rotfl:

heh, I removed it after a moments consideration. It's comedic value warranted it being posted, even if only for a few seconds.

Oth..er.....for...um?
What is that?

being a final fantasy/RPG person, i've hung out a lot on forums.ffinsider.net, forums.ffextreme.com, and OverClocked remix. OCR's forums have an "Unmoderated" forum that can only be accessed by registered members(thankfully), where 99% of the material would result in a perm ban here. But I haven't really found one forum that's particularly 'better' than the others on FF Discussion. But OCR is one of the best when it comes to discussions of video game music and they've also got a good deal of helpful discussions on music technology and software(it's a remixer's site, so that's to be expected) but it's hard to keep a 'good' discussion going for more than 15 posts before you get
burned.txt
by flames that usually come from the forum's more established members.

I occasionally visit Something Awful for their photoshop threads, but that's about it.

It was a most excruciating experience I don't care to repeat. With all due respect to Apolyton, it's just not the same (nor as reliable).

Debate and Discussion on the Something Awful forums is a great place for serious discussion. The kinds of BS arguments and appeals to emotion, authority, etc that are so popular here aren't given much credit there, and you can generally rely on an argument being judged on its merits rather that the "HURR X IS BAD M'KAY SHOOT THE ADDICTS LOL" that is fairly popular here. The $10 registration fee also tends to keep the retards out.

This place is sort of like D&D lite.

I could not disagree more (With the exception that I haven't been to the Something Awful forums). This place has better arguements and topics than any place I've ever seen.

I have yet to find a forum that is at a higher level of intelligence than CFC. Mostly due to OT, but also somehow at CFC almost everyone uses proper spelling and grammar (even the occasional slip and people who are not native English speakers). Plus there's no 1337. How it's possible with 30k+ members is a mystery, but it is.

But I lurk at GameFAQs more. (where there's flames, flames, trolls, more flames, flamers of spelling getting flamed for poor spelling, trolls, and etc.) Through my months of lurking at GameFAQs, I have learned the golden rule which all should heed: Opinions are NOT tolerated at Gamefaqs :p

it's cos we have hard working mods who get rid of anyone who posts rubbish. :)

and some people here aren't too hot on the spelling, but most people aren't picky as long as they can understand what's said.

except the M.O.D. staff forum

It's in sort of a decline now that TAK's banned and graedus hardly ever posts. Hangly is also a shadow of his former self :(
