Deity is just madness.

Monarch will be hard enough, Emperor a great challenge, at least for me.

NOW should add about 2 difficulty levels. The smaller the map, the harder it gets, as we don't have time to build up military before meeting the first civ.

I strongly suggest taking Iros or Celts. I'd like the Iros more, the UU is cheaper for the same offensive power. But at Deity this won't be a very long game with any civ.

Didn't you say we should try deity? Ok, lets pick Iro, Celts need monarch golden age to make up for expensive gallics, so we'll do iro.

What I said was that an Emperor NOW game feels just like Deity. Not the other way 'round.

Is trading allowed before declaring when meeting the first civ?

Anyway, Iros is fine with me. But we should get someone with AW/NOW/OW experience at higher levels to join us. I have absolutely zero experience with these variants.

Ok, I'm starting the game. It's not too late to sign up while we're playing. I'll start since I already have the game on my computer, and I play AW type games a lot, so I have experiance in beginnings.

Gee, that didn't take long. While I've been waiting for others to sign up, all I've been thinking about is game plan, so the actually playing took 3 minutes. In 20 turns, I built 2 warriors for MP/defense. Then I built a granary, and am almost done with a warrior to escort the newly built settler. Cow was roaded and irrigated, and a BG was roaded and mined. Once all terrain is developed, this will be a 4 turn warrior/settler factory. We should be expanding like crazy. If you find a civs borders, and they are close, don't make contact with them. Make contact with the farthest away civ we can, then get alliances with closer ones so we have time to build our empire up.

10 turns per person (I got 20 cause it was the first turnset), then in the Industrial Age, 5 per person.
