Own1 My First Hosted SG!!

Imho it would have been better to go for Poly/Monarchy instead of bronze working. With horses hooked up we won't build a single spearman, but this side research delays our switch to a better government.

DA SAVE

I think we need some spears. As soon as Bismarck begins to send spear archer combos it will not be so easy to kill these combos. We need defense or cats then and as he heads for NF all the time he will have to attack over the river which gives our spears a good bonus. For cats we are still missing maths. If we begin to build cities heading to Gemany it is better to guard them with defensive units than counting on our archers. We still have few units and during my turns it was close holding NF. If one more archer would have failed a warrior would have had to defend NF. This is quite dangerous. With spears in the border cities we are safer.
I would vote not to trigger the golden age so soon. We have too many unimproved tiles. We would waste a lot.
Maybe we should get in contact with the vikings, if they are the vikings. In my turns I had no new face in the foreign advisor screen. As we are playing NOW we can trade with him and go after him after we are ready with Bismarck. I would prefer them as the second target than another civ with a mounted UU. On this map his berserks are not very powerful. Maybe we can trade for IW and switch back to the Poly/Monarchy route.

MW are strong enough to take on almost everything in the AA. Spears or cats would just slow them down.

Remember, this is NOW, not AW, so only one enemy at a time.

Swords are spear defense + MWs attack - 1 move.
Spears are useless, our MWs will speed in and mow down the spears and archers will snipe the other archers, so no spears, Musketmen are pretty useful.

Turn 0, 1200 BC:
We are running much +gpt without needing it as we can't rush-buy anything, but we are running 40% lux tax is much too big cities. Salamanca hired an entertainer and doesn't need him, and another city hired entertainers, but would only need a taxman or a scientist. Salamanca hit size 7 without need. Niagara Falls is missing a scientists.

We are allowed to whip builds every now and then.

I switch Salamanca to settler. The tundra towns stay on warrior builds for much needed MP.

IW noe due in 5. We just don't need iron before knights.

IBT:
German archers are forming in the mountains.

Turn 1, 1175 BC:
CONTACT FRANCE!
France is second on the list.
They are ahead Masonry, Iron Working and Writing at least.
Hurry settler in Salamanca.
IW in 3.

Grand River worker -> MW

Turn 2, 1150 BC:
Attacking the three german archers.
ENTERING THE GOLDEN AGE!

Lower lux to 20% due to military police duty.
Raise science to 70%, Poly in 5.

IBT:
Niagara Falls riots. Damn.
Grand River MW -> MW

Turn 10, 950 BC:
Lux back to 30% due to pop growth
Found St.Regis west of Salamanca
Kill german spear, capture german settler.

Suggestions:
Use Salamanca for MW/settler production.
Use whipping to keep the pop growth under control.
Simply push Germany with MW until they are no more.
Search for France next.

At one point were we are in control of the war we might want to build some culture and markets.

THE LIST:

GERMANY (currently)
FRANCE
RUSSIA

The light violet borders are still unknown.

THE SAVE

In the situation now spears are useless I agree. I would have waited with the golden age until we had developed our empire more. There are many unimproved tiles. I think we could have taken Bismarck out without our mounties. Then spears would have been a help. Ok, so let the Mounties roll over them.

MW are the Iro's biggest plus. I'd always use them to the max. More MW are worth more than a delayed GA.

Having family around is nice. We have many birthdays of relatives in summer, so many nice barbecues, but it would be hurting me starting a succession game and missing some rounds.
