Own1 My First Hosted SG!!

Well I'll be, for some reason it didn't come up as a new post in my subscription list.

Oh well, sorry for the unneeded help. Good luck with your game! :)

Edit: Just checked, I hadn't completed the registry with that thread so wasn't actually subscribed to it. Oops.

i think i got a better one.
what barbs do we want?

I'd be in, but only if map size drops to normal. A huge map is just too time consuming.

If you want to go for thrill, take the Zulu. China is extremely powerful and with a settler factory start the game will be much too easy for everyone that is able to regularly beat the AI at Monarch level.

Mongols would be another not too easy choice.

It won't be too time consuming, you're only playing 1/7 of the game or less. In the modern times when turns will take forever, you only take 4 turns. If nobody signs up and all say they will if I smallen the map, then I will. It's a shame cause I got a great start on huge. This is suppost to be a major challenge (I'm sure it'd be easy for a lot of people), and stantard is too easy. Less than half the civs to kill.

Don't want to post start, cause it'll waste a compact disc as I have to transfer it from one compy to the next. You'll see it later.

If you have thought about signing up, but changed your mind cause of the huge map, say so.

Lullaby, starting the "smaller map campaign." Who else shall sign the petition?

lurker's comment: Own I think there are a lot of people that would shy away based on that map size. I'll bet if you went regular you'd have more success. Maybe throw in a defiant variant. It easily adds a level or two to the game. Just my .02

I have decided that if this must be toned down to standard, then it shall still be emperor, but for the same challenge (I think) it will be a Non-Oscillating War (NOW). If that changes the only victory condition allowed will still be conquest. I would like some sorta military oriented game, NOW's don't seem to be popular, AW get's all the attention. I'm sure AWE would be very doable, but I want to try someting different.

IMHO a smaller map doesn't make it easier, just faster, especially when playing NOW. Remember, you have to declare on the first civ you meet at the first turn. Smaller maps means meeting neighbours sooner. We will have to build military from scratch. Could be about Deity level. So the requisite "can regularly beat the AI on Regent" won't suffice.

I'm in, as soon as you edit your start post to normal map size and NOW.

I am convinced, huge maps are too slow.

Version: C3C 1.22
Difficulty: Deity
Qualifications: Can beat Emperor consistently (I hope you can, MadViking)
Map: Lullaby, we you suggesting small or standard? I'll generate maps until we get a decent start, doesn't even need 5+ food.
Civ: I won't waste time debating, so the civ will be random (make the best of the randomizers choice)
Variant: Non-Oscillating War NOW. The first civ you meet, you must declare war on. The order that you meet civs must be written down. Once you eliminate that civ, declare war on the second civ you met, and so on. You are not allowed to get a civ down to one city and let them live while building up to take down next one. Kill civs as fast as you can.

Forgot about the rules:
No reloading
No automating workers or having governer manage citizen moods
I expect more micro-managing than I did last "attempted SG." You've only got 10 turns to play, make the best of them, and try to perfectly micro-manage. Check every city every turn, but once we have a lot of cities, you only have to check them when they grow.
Any other "exploits" such as ROP rape are allowed but ask the team first, as we may need our rep for something.

lurker's comment: wow, semi-AW on diety! on a large map you can try to match the AI's expansion with an AGR civ. The Iroquios I think are the very best for this. Celts 2nd, then Maya/Aztec/Sumeria/Dutch?

This is on standard, and it's not half as hard as AW cause we can trade and sign alliances.
lurker's comment: It will be hard to get an alliance vs. the first civ you meet. First, there will be no one to ally with, cause you haven't met anyone. Also, they will have their big stack of diety warrior/spears to attack you. Third, the AI's will likely be ahead of you in tech, so it costs a lot of money to get an alliance.

That's why I was suggesting having an early powerful unit like mounted warrior or gallic swordsman...survival
