ok i voted. i'm obviously biased toward my own game this round but i tried to set that aside for 2 minutes and vote

Well, I felt this was done, so I snagged into a web access free point just to anounce:

Ok, I'll start the discussion and start it from what my thinking was during my game...
My next objective was to raze Kublai's capital (3 turns or so) then move on to raze Old Sarai. With the loss of his three core cities I was hoping he would capitulate. If not, I would proceed to raze the city to the East that is putting cultural pressure on one of our cities (might be a good idea to raze it anyway even if he is willing to capitulate...). From there it is a matter of razing his largest cities (hopefully in a non-haphazard order to be efficient) until he capitulates.
Keep in mind that I bribed Genghis to declare on Kublai as well so that should be added incentive for him to capitulate.
From the very beginning of the game I had in my mind to befriend Genghis, and that hasn't changed for me still. We can move on to Mao next, hopefully bribing Genghis to participate as well.
The same logic applies: Go for core cities, raze them, and force capitulation.
Then Genghis...
Tech priorities: The only tech I felt was needed at this point was rifling. With that we can draft rifles to support our army.
Military priorities: We have a lot of grenadiers, but need more cannons. I would say focus on building exclusively cannons at this point while drafting rifles when able. I have been building military academies so prioritize these cities for unit production.
Build priorities: Once thing I regret not building (!!!) is the Globe Theatre. That should be a priority in our highest food city so we can whip cannons at a fast pace.
That's about it. We should be able to wrap this up this round for sure imo...
Oh yes, one last thing:
Once Rifling is in, forget about the science slider. Instead, max out the culture slider for happiness so we can do more drafting!!! (get theatres and coliseums in the cities if they don't have them already...)

I don't agree with your strat though : I would keep Genghis for the end. This should make it a sure thing that we don't hit domination limit.
And I wouldn't raze the capital (hagia sophia isn't obsolete for now).
So my global strat would be take and keep the capital, raze the easern coastal city (can't remember the name) that takes the fish from our coastal city, then raze a few more until capitulation, then go for Asoka (should be fast!) then Mao, a bit longer, but not much then genghis.
Bribing Mao or genghis into warring each other could prove helpful.

Its worth remembering to check for capitulation at the end of a turn as well as the start. Its one of the things that caught me out last round.

Congratulations Futurehermit - I felt that there were several good submissions this round, so to come out on top here is especially worthy (Cabledawg had a real 'rags-to-riches' story - I thought that he was prospectively going to get consecutive rounds - a very competitive submission i.m.h.o.!).If the game is won by anyone by 1820AD by Conquest, then I would ask that they the rest of the roster know, and we'll all play to completion.

Meh, we can keep the capital if it has a decent wonder if you like, but I envision this game being over soon and don't care really about wonders at this point: MILITARY
I just want to say that my understanding of a CONQUEST game is that it's all about razing really. Eliminating rivals. That's just my understanding though and I like to hear others' take on it
I think we can take Asoka ourselves and then bribe Genghis to help us with Mao then mop up Genghis--victory!

Your save doesnt have Nationalism. You were researching Scientific Method...Do we need that? Itll obsolete Great library and Monastaries.

in which case they might learn something from more successful submissions, so I do think that there's something to be gained by not 'racing to the finishing line' at this point.On the other hand, there's going to be a two week wait + voting before we put this game 'to bed' by (presumably) finishing it off in a final few turns after all of that, and I'm not sure if that might be just dragging out the inevitable.

I've already played up till the end.
I totally agree with what I bolded.
Unless spreading thin the troops FH gave us, there is no way to let victory escape now. So there can be no trash to save, and one more round for a handful of turns (6 in my case, I must check how many fingers I have
) isn't worth the trouble.This game IS saved already.

Asoka is easy, that's right.
But if ganging on Mao makes the war easier, it makes it very likely that mao could vassalize to GK! Beware of this.
I don't agree, and thus I finished the game, and you won't get my vote for any other round. It's not a competition, really.
It's about learning. There is nothing to learn in 6 turns of mopping up.

Well, I just got home and I'm going to download FHs save now and compare to my attempt (I stopped 5 turns before the limit date) to see how far I was from him. But I'll take cabert and FH words to base this: I think we may all go to the finish now UNLESS someone gets to 1820 AD and thinks he cannot win in few turns. It's the trash game, anyway, so we may STILL learn from something here.

Everyone plays to 1820AD or conquest win if prior to 1820AD. Save your games there. You have two weeks (24th February).
From that point, you can finish off your game if you're on a roll.
If anyone is at 1820AD and is really struggling and knows that it's no walkover, they should flag their predicament. We will take theirs and any other similar 'uphill' games and assess them at the time (24th February). This may require some 'pride swallowing', but as futurehermit says, this is not about competition but education and lending some help and ideas to each other.

Well, first of all I upgraded many maces to grenadiers. I also built grenadiers and catapults. Then I hit steel and upgraded many catapults to cannons and built cannons. Power rating also has to do with population and the ability to produce troops and stuff. I grew population and specialized our cities more and built 3 military academies. In a nutshell I threw everything we had into military and said to hell with everything else
