Paradox forum

Completely agree. The paradox series is far deserving of a forum here. Have to give credit for the RTS version of Civ! :p

First we need a list of Paradox games ...

• Europa Universalis: loosely based on the board game of the same name, covering the period 1492–1792

• Europa Universalis II: the sequel to Europa Universalis, expanded to cover the period 1419–1819.

• Europa Universalis III: sequel, covering the period 1453–1789.

• Hearts of Iron: a World War II strategy game dealing with the period of 1936–1948.

• Hearts of Iron II: an expanded sequel to Hearts of Iron.

• Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday: a stand-alone expansion to Hearts of Iron II depicting an alternate history setting of the Cold War and moving the game end to 1953.

• Victoria, An Empire Under the Sun: a game about the Victorian era spanning the period 1836–1920.

• Victoria: Revolutions: An expansion to Victoria that improves gameplay and extends the game's end to 1935. Includes built-in converter to Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday.

• Europa Universalis: Crown of the North: an English language version of the Swedish game Svea Rike 3 — the predecessor to Europa Universalis. The game map features only Scandinavia and the Baltic coast. It follows the struggle for dominance of the area between the various factions. This game was released in North America together with a rerelease of Europa Universalis II at version 1.07, with the addition of new scenarios.

• The Two Thrones: a game which is virtually the same as Crown of the North except it is based during the Hundred Years' War so it has a different map (France, the Low Countries, the British Isles, and the northern fringes of Spain) and a few new units.

• Crusader Kings: a game of Medieval strategy running from 1066–1453. Unlike other Paradox games, the player controls not a country, but a dynasty. Crusader Kings games can be exported into Europa Universalis II, allowing the player to continue his campaigns for 400 more years.

• Diplomacy, released 2005. a new version of the classic Diplomacy boardgame. Paradox's stated aim is to provide a more authentic computer-based Diplomacy experience, with a graphical diplomatic interface and a diplomatic AI that builds on Paradox's previous experience with strategic AIs.

But games that are GOOD on that list are EU-series(Dunno about Two Thrones and Crown of the North), HoI-series, Victoria and CK. Also there's an expansion to EU2 that focuses on Asia, though I've heard that it was crappy in all ways.

A lot of the activity in All Other Games is Paradox related. Removing all these threads would cripple that sub-forum. Should the other threads ever be threatened to be drowned in a flood EU2 and HOI threads, then i would advocate a split.
But as of yet, there is a good balance and no need to take action. IMO, of course.

I'd agree with Till. And going by the other subforums, such as Total War and Galactic Civilizations, I doubt it would have as much activity than if the threads were left in All Other Games.

The reason I don't want it - close to no one will visit it

That's why over 30 members have posted in some sort of Paradox Interactive games threads, right?

BTW, this list was produced before a lot of the AAR's and SG's for the games were started, so there might even be more people.

BTW, 12 threads in All Other Games forum first 2 pages deal with Paradox games.

BCLG100@ Total War-series and Rise of Nations already have a forum, why not Paradox-games? I think that Paradox-games forum would have many participants, as the games have many time scales. If you like strategy and WW2, play HoI. If you like crusades and strategy, play CK.

I was going to say "hey you this is a CIV forum there's no need for a Paradox forum" but you raised a good point. Most games are history related and it seemed we have a large enough community here. So it's a yes from me.

A forum for all Paradox games would require thread titles to include the game, which the thread is meant to be about. Just like it is the case in AoG now! I fail to see what would be gained by a move.
And Kan raises a good point. As long as the threads stay in AoG, new people will be introduced to the games, and the audience for AARs will be larger.

I guess but looking back on it i dont see much point for them forums either, they're hardly brimming with posts.

I would agree. I tend to forget to visit the Total War forum so I miss some threads that I would have read and generally it is the same posters that are posting in the paradox threads.
