Patch v3.13 change list

As I replied previously, BtS was the first time that I purchased a complex computer game the day of release. If Firaxis had waited until the game was completely bug free, we would still be waiting for the release of the game. If I recall, there were a lot of people anxious for the release as it was. Can you imagine if the game hadn't been released yet? For me, I accept the game as is and have been playing and enjoying it since I got it (am on my 5th game I believe). It appears that I will finish my game before or as the patch comes out, but if it doesn't, I will just start a new game and download the patch when I am ready.

Firaxis does not accept the game as-is. They are releasing a patch soon. You are any easy customer. That's fine.

I wasn't originally complaining about a patch,the change log was published. Then when the information, misinformation, no information, and information in one place not the other and various dates started coming out, a few "whiners" showed up, if you will.

OK, I will do so, but only because you seem like a truly nice person, are from New Joisey (same here), play on Prince (same here also), and are not saying inane things....I will be sensitive to Firaxis and Take2's needs.

I play on Prince right now to get used to all the new features... especially in the late game.

Actually, this is not a deadline, nor was there ever a deadline. We will release the patch when we are ready to do so.

We are happy to give you time estimates based on the current situation, but situations change. We can keep totally silent, if you prefer.

HAHA OMG thats the worst PR I've ever seen .... when firaxis/take2 gets some useful information to share with the common player, and hire someone that can actually deliver messages that cant be misunderstood in 10 different ways, then I'll consider buying another product from them. Oh maybe get an official forum, with actual news...

Civ4 will be the last game I buy from these guys... unless serious changes are made.... talk about arrogant behaviour.

The Smeagol strategy would be wrong - letting the oppressor have its will.

In the world of civilization, Firaxis is the government and customers are its people. And you know that... "the people shouldnt be afraid of its government - the government should be afraid of the people"

If they really feel offended, then they only have themselves to blaim. A game released too early, too little information... and Alexman's comment earlier was rather subjective and premature.

They need a news section or something... not just a random post once every second month on a random 3rd party fansite.

And if the quality of the next post, with changelog info for another patch, is as poorly controlled as this one - Who really needs another post? I certainly dont...

I certainly liked being able to see the changelog in advance and hope that the whiners here don't ruin an opportunity of that happening again.

Are we back in Jr. High School? Alexman posted a poll soliciting opinions on whether the patch was "worth the wait" (when neither can be determined until the day the patch is delivered -- but never mind that). He got a lot of opinions; most good, some not. And any complaints were more than offset by obsequious praise. If he didn't want to risk negative feedback, he shouldn't have included "No" (in italics, no less) as one of the poll options. Now, after getting what he literally asked for, those of us who have been critical are supposed to live in fear of a petty, infantile and spiteful punishment paradigm? If so, the poll options should have been: "Yes," "What is BtS?" and "I won't answer for fear of your retribution." What rubbish!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's a great game. Despite whatever bugs it may have (or even continue to have), it continues to give me many hours of enjoyment. It was worth every penny, whether we ever get another patch. I sincerely say: "Job well done." But the notion that those of us who have complained about how the communication about the patch has been handled are "whiners" who need to be silenced for fear of offending The Great and Powerful Oz who solicited our opinions is just utter nonsense.

My "as is" comment did not mean that I did not want the patch, it merely meant that it is working at an enjoyalbe level for me. I won't download the patch until I am ready to do so because I have not had the major problems some people have had. I would assume the patch will add even more enjoyment to the game, so yes, my next game or the game after that, I will update my software.

As for information showing up in one place and not the other, I did note that Alexman originally posted the change log here, and not on the other site. He did post the updates on the other site, but not here. I don't understand why that was, but since some people follow both (I don't - only knew about because of posts here), the information seemed to get to both boards. Whether that is good or bad is up to each individual.
