I've heard that Civ3 doesn't, but I may be wrong, since I am not the guy to ask about OSes. Isn't Vista around $300 for the basic one, and $470 for Ultimate?
I know XP is $200 for Home and $300 for Pro.

Reading from various game forums, Vista has a lot more trouble running just about any game than XP.
Haven't played civ3 in years, since before I've had Vista installed, just launched the game, and it opened fine.
Checking my regular website, Vista Home Premium OEM is $130, XP Home OEM is $100. Vista Business OEM is $165, XP Pro OEM is $168.
Not a whole lot of difference in price. And in a few month, sales of XP cease, so pricing will be irrelavent.
There's a lot of bad information about Vista floating around on forums and websites. The vast majority of recent games work fine in Vista, and some games that use large amounts of memory (Supreme Commander, The Witcher, etc) work better in Vista than in XP.
Games with issues can usually be fixed with a quick google search, or if you're not even in the mood for that, post up here, and I (or someone else) can post a fix.

I haven't had a problem with any game in Vista so far. Even Pharaoh, which sometimes gave me hell in XP, works flawlessly in Vista. And I just payed €75 for Vista Basic.

Alright, dad gave it to me today but he says that he will still use it a little bit. Here are the games that I want to install in this specific order.
1. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings w/The Conquerers
2. Civilization IV w/Beyond the Sword
3. Rise of Nations w/Thrones and Patriots
4. Command and Conquer: Generals w/Zero Hour
5. Age of Mythology w/The Titans
6. The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth
7. Black and White 2
8. Empire Earth II
9. Age of Empires III (if I have the space)

Probably either 250, 320, or 500. Those are pretty common.

No Civ3?
I don't have any Civ games aside from 4, and judging by the reviews, I'm not going to get any.
One of the good things that Gamespot said about Civ4 was that it's "much easier to fit into your schedule". Well, I'm a schoolkid, and Civ4 is really tough to fit into my schedue, so I can't even imagine how much it will be for the other Civ games.
Now I'm into games like Super Mario Galaxy, where I can actually accomplish something in just 15 minutes.

well.......Gamespot is like bribed to write bad reviews about anything before Civ4 that has Civ in the title.......
so........how many gigabytes you have? I only had just enough money (after three years of saving....to get a pathetic comp that only has 67 gigs.......

Probably more than enough, you can't really get drives below 250gb anymore, and 500gb drives are available for around $90.

yeah, but everyone knows that CivIII drew you in WAY more than in Civ4......well that's actually just my opinion......
