I own a PC, but recently I have been seeing commercials about how much better the Mac is than the PC, so I want to see which is more popular among CFC goers.

PC is supreme, on all fronts.
Apple Macs are fruity.

I cannot imagine what anyone finds good about those awful transparent-topped monstrosities!

Death to the Mac-Infidel! IIIEEEEEE!

I second Mr Sibling - who wants a half sucked boiled sweet for a computer?

Compatibility is a massive issue, as is the price - you'll find an equivalent PC for much less.

Absolutely Mr Monkey. Why would I want anything that looked like someone had spent even a second thinking about its design. I do not want choice! I want all my computer equipment to be beige! I want all my stereo equipment to be black! Don't try to confuse me by giving me options! Lead me, Mr Gates, lead me to paradise.

By the way, do you work in IT procurement, by any chance?

IMHO, the Mac is a better machine in many respects. However, when it comes to available programs, and compatability with other users, the PC wins hands down.

I despise Microsoft, but I have Windows on both machines on my desk at work, and have installed it on every machine at home. The primary reason is compatability. My wife's position requires her to use a Windows-only program, and I need to be able to interface with her. I also run Mandrake Linux on my machine, but my favorite pastime after work is Civ3, which forces me back to Windows.

The other problem with the Mac is the cost. I build my own machines, and can put together a very good system for much less than $1000. You can't "build" a Mac; you have to buy it complete. And the price is considerably more than $1000.

Basically, like drake said, both have their ups and downs. If I had my druthers, I would be running Mac OSX. But in the real world, I build and use windows-based PCs.

At work all computers are PCs and at home I have always had a PC too, it's just because I'm so used to this I don't like working on a Mac although I have to sometimes.

Does anyone know how long one would have to leave a PC and Mac together in the same room, so they'll eventually breed and reproduce?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Where I am sitting, I can see a repugnant little iMac right in front me on an adjoining desk...yech!

If only I could nudge it out of our 5th floor window!

Anyone saying the mac is better than the PC, surely these people are deluded!
The Mac's keyboard is coated in vile chemicals to twist the minds of those crazy enough to touch one!

Beware!

I am sorry to inform you that Microsoft has claimed copyright on that phrase as specified in the EULA. Specifically, since it is copyable and pastable on Windows PC, Microsoft has determined it is within its rights to charge you a nominal fee.

Please make out your check or money order to William Gates.

Mac has a great OS but..the availability of software, compatibilty, blah blah, etc, etc is still the big drawback. Not too mention anything MACable seems to automatically entitle someone to add 15% to the price

I can't say how many times I have heard of a great new shareware or gaming site etc only to see
"Currently the mac os is not supported. We are working on a solution"

Of course, the solution never happens. Why should it?.Any business has to cater to the masses or forever limit their profits.

One of my greatest computer thrills was walking in to my local software outlet and being able to stroll over to the BIG section instead of the mac bookshelf.

Windows is remarkably similiar to mac.Especially XP.Co-incidence?

It reminds me alot of the BETA vs VHS battle years ago.

Mac is better if you're trying to quit using computers

He was involved in the mac either I think, so you can say what he makes is better than what he made. I have a feeling he became too important for an idiot.

I have always owned PCs at home. Before that it was a self-built computer, based on the KC-87. :yeah:

But I worked with MACs while going to school in America, 9 years ago. And they were definitely better than the PCs they had.
:D
