Yet another builder turnset. The focus for the near future has to be maximizing our beakers, but we've really got to think about production at some point - many of our cities are food-rich and hammer-poor.
Ok...we're in anarchy on the inherited turn

rolleyes

, so not much to do. Press Enter.
IBT - Toynbee doesn't think much of us:
Turn 1 - 1410
Out of anarchy. Looks like the governors got the specialists pretty much right. We're losing 40gpt @ 70%, but I have no idea how that compares to before.
I also sent the GS to New York to settle. Why NY and not Washington?
- New York has (almost) as high a multiplier for science as Washington. Just lacks a Monastery.
- NY is running four (!) specialists, but it still has almost as much commerce as Washington, and Washington has the Bureaucracy bonus. So NY is going to be the obvious place for Oxford.
We also get paid for that big palace we never finished.
IBT - Peter shows up to play Let's Make a Deal.
The money is tempting...but PP is a pre-requisite for Democracy, and I'd rather have the Statue of Liberty. Denied.
Brennus gets a GE, too. Gotta watch for that.
Turn 2 - 1420
Gave me an idea, though. Toku will make the following deal:
Take it. Education won't do any harm in his hands, and we need Gunpowder->Chemistry to get to Industrialism.
With all the new money, I crank the slider to 100%. Democracy now in 5 turns.
IBT - German pikes stomp one of the Knights wandering out near the front.

I keep the other one on a hill behind Toku's borders just to watch.
Turn 3 - 1430
Boston finishes Longbow -> Library. We want to get 6 Universities ASAP, and we can build one pretty fast here.
Vienne finishes Longbow -> University. Similar logic.
Thracian finishes Walls -> Forge. We have three unhappy citizens here (since switching out of HR), so whip the Forge for 2 pop.
Turn 4 - 1440
Washington finishes Forge -> Trebuchet. Due in 3 turns, just like Democracy.
Thracian finishes Forge -> Barracks.
IBT - Biz shows up near Chicago with a caravel.
We basically have no navy. At all. If he starts bringing Galleons, we've got...um...issues.
Turn 5 -1450
IBT -
Turn 6 - 1460
Finally remember to whip the Library in Chicago so I can run a Scientist there.
Turn 7 - 1470
Start on Astronomy. Why not Replaceable Parts, on the way to Industrialism? Three reasons:
- Trade with Augustus. Minor, but it could help.
- Observatories. Gotta max those beakers.
- Galleons, and Frigates (with Chemistry). Biz can't get at us overland (Toku hates him), but he could start sending Galleons full of troops. It'd be nice to be able to stop him. Chemistry would then be a quick fix for all of our defense needs.
Washington finishes Treb -> Statue of Liberty. Due in 48 turns

.
Phlly finishes Harbor -> Market.
Chicago finishes Library -> Courthouse.
I try to trade for Copper. Peter won't even consider it, and Brennus wants three (!) health resources for it.
But then, I ask Brennus to give us Copper for free, and he agrees!

I was so surprised, I didn't get a screenshot. Cut 17 turns off the Statue, and I shaved another 4 with some MM in Washington. Now due in 27.
Turn 8 - 1480
Boston finishes Library -> University
Peter's Golden Age ends. Stupid Mahal-stealing pr-ck.
Turn 9 - 1490
Tolosa finishes the Forbidden Palace -> University. Cuts some maintenance, but not a bunch. We're still hemorrhaging cash - we'll be broke again a couple turns into the next set.
Atlanta finishes University -> Caravel (see below).
We also got our next GP in New York. A Merchant. Now, that's not bad - we could use a cash infusion to keep research high. The problem is that the best places to send him would be Moscow or Berlin. And we can't walk to either one because of the war with Bismark. Hence the Caravel in Atlanta. Send the GM WEST on the caravel if you want the cash. Or you could settle him in NY for the cash. I haven't moved him or put him to sleep, so please discuss.
I never thought to check the tech he'd lightbulb.
Turn 10 - 1500
Not much else happens. Pretty quiet turns.
Summary and save in next post.
