Sounds good, from the looks of things I will probably continue building archers for barb defense, maybe try to work on another settler if it seems feasible so we can get that corn/gold/deer site.

Actually played till HBR has only one turn left, I wanted to get opinions from the group so I figured Rex could take over for me :)

IT 975 BC everything looks good, hit enter.

950 whipped working in York for 2 pop

925 started road to Ivory with new worker, continued roading London to York with the other one
-started Barracks in York, it was only 11 turns and I figured with Always War and Raging Barbs you can't go wrong with promoted units
-put research at 100% - HBR due in 13 at -10 per turn, we have 150g to cover it... in retrospect I probably could have done this one turn sooner, but I guess we will have extra cash instead of the tech a turn earlier
-MM York to increase growth from 6 to 9 turns, decrease barracks from 11 to 8 turns... York was at happy cap presently so preferred to get barracks sooner and let growth wait

IBT Barb axe attacks our archer, who triumphs, proudly waving the English colours

-Archer in our borders attacks London, we win but our archer is hurt: 1.3/3

900 fortified archer that finished in London there for additional capital defense
-started another archer, London is at happy cap but the archer will finish before growth and it will allow food to store, plus he can be the escort for the settler we will need
-sent chariot by York to help Biz spawnbust as the north seemed pretty visible

    875 nothing noteworthy happening here

850 shuffling some units in response to barbarian activity

825 2 chariots running sentry duty in the south, other chariot still migrating through German fields to help spawnbust
-had worker take a break from roading to rebuild the pig pen that the barbarians had pillaged

    800 started the pasture
-London completes archer, begins settler for the deer/corn/gold site
-sent newly trained archer to that site to hold the territory

775 moved chariot out by Biz and found that the barbs have settled in

750 started 1st ivory camp, noted that York has trade with Nottingham

725 York completes barracks, begins worker... has only one turn to grow but was already at happy cap, started the worker till either the camp finishes or whip anger cools then can suspend to allow growth to complete if desired
-moved chariot to check out Barbville

-they have not been slack in their defenses

700 fortified archer on our future city spot
-sent chariot back to the south to spawnbust where there was no city built yet

    675 nothing to note

650 good news, Boudica has both copper and iron hooked up and has been working on axemen and Gallic Warriors
-bad news, Monte is on the offensive

-started the London worker building a road to connect the pigs, will finish in 3 turns
-one of the barb archers plagueing Germany apparently decided that it might be more lucrative to harass us, and has approached our borders

    Decided to stop here-
    HBR completes next turn
Ivory camp will be finished in 2
There is currently an opportunity to whip the settler in London for 2 pop w/10 overflow but I was not sure whether we would want to decrease our capital's population that much at this time. With the pigs pastured again it might not be too bad but will leave that for the group to decide
All chariots in the south have full movement available before this turn is ended
After the current settler/worker builds complete we will probably need to switch to pumping military, glad the barracks finished in York, but so far that is our only city with barracks

Hope that was ok for my first turnset in an SG :)
Also hope these pics show up, haven't tried this before...

Well after recruiting some help since I didn't know what I was doing (which remains obvious by the incorrectly cropped images  ) I was able to enter the correct links so they show up (thanks kossin :) )

    Here is the save ~

good turns and good report ~ way to pop your cherry

imo, i wouldn't whip the capital at this point, letting it grow up to six and get some good production rolling. otoh, you can whip a settler for three pop and get it out immediately.

ahh, let's hear some other thoughts....after HBR? the 3 C's (currency, code and construction)?? maybe head for lit for Biz to build? we cud gift him our marble. more things to consider.

Since Boudi has copper and iron, she can spare us iron till we get our source. But we can't ask yet since London is not connected to her. We need a road between London & York to make it work.

Research: masonry - maths - construction seems logical for AAW

Let's settle those last city sites we want and start some :trouble:

Edit: I would whip the settler in London, we're working 2 unimproved tiles there anyway, need some more workers

Okay, so, I'll be playing very soonish. Priorities: connect London and York so we can swindle share Celtic metal; pump some units once the worker and settler are done; research masonry->math->construction; hook up pigs and ivory; kill barbs; don't lose London.

    Sound right?

Okay, I played ten. Military was uneventful, with only one barb archer attacking Nottingham on my first turn. I decided NOT to whip the settler, realizing that we had the extra happiness coming in, so I opted to grow London to size 6 instead.

With that all in mind, I roaded up our empire...

These all happened the moment I completed the road to York. ("bong, you have hooked up Ivory" is hidden by the screenshot name sign.) I immediately hit up our neighbor for some shiny stuff.

She was all too pleased. The other neighbor...

Berlin's not doing well, guys. Let's hook up the other elephants and gift him some happy.

That's a theme, BTW. Our team is hurting. More on that later. First, the settler came in organically and I founded Hastings where someone left an archer. I hope this was the one meant for settlement. Leave a sign next time and kindly remember that you're playing with idiots.

Funny how, in the middle of a war like this, a little god talk manages to cross borders. Kinda like roaches, you just can't keep that stuff out and you can't kill it with a microwave.

Now then, right before my set ended, I gandered over eastward...

This was actually on my penultimate turn and she seemed to hold off round one of the attack. Still, we need to send units her way. With Biz such a dip (he did build his second city, BTW), we really need a good teammate. I've been leaving our chariots down on fogbusting duty, but they can harass troops pretty well. At the very least, we should fortify a position at that neck into our continent.

I did follow the masonry->math tech route, though I weeded and forgot to stop building the road I was working on until masonry came in and lost us two turns on the quarry. Sorry.

Nottingham needs development, but I sent two workers down toward Hastings to get that gold mined and roaded to the capital.

One last thing, I've been building a couple of swords, hoping to take barbtropolis, but, looking at Boudy's trouble maybe I should've picked axes instead?

Anyhow, I hope I didn't F-up too badly. Without Fox around, I really have no way of knowing.

I got it for today. Save looks good.
Although we missed the opportunity to whip the granary in Nott. for 2 pop. We also have more units spawnbusting the S than strictly necessary but that's no big deal.

I will try to get our last 2 cities settled, get some more workers and take polynesian with our chariots (and I think it's best to keep it for ourselves but bis could use more cities too, what do you guys think?)

We could give horses to boobica, but being aggr she's better off building melee. If her coppermine gets destroyed i'll even give her back iron i think.

    Played 15 turns:

T146: I moved our 3 chariots out to the barb city on the east coast
Nottingham grew to 5: start worker

    T148: London: sword > settler
    York: sword > axe
    swords go after the chariots

T149: boudica loses access to copper, so I give her back Iron
    Spoiler :

T150: whip worker for 2 pop in Nottingham, overflow in gran

T151: I start a farm on the FP in Nott., cottages makes sense here too but we need production more

York grew size 5, start settler

    T152: Nottingham: gran>barracks

T154: I notice Hastings building a barracks, but it has no granary yet, so it pick that

T155: Lots of enemy units (most chariots) outside Bibracte, Boudica has lost her GG-gallic. Monty sends a big stack
    Spoiler :

T157: slave revolt in London, pick the 2 option, forgot SS
    Found Canterbury, start granary:
    Spoiler :

T158: Lost 2 chariots, kill 2 archers, take Polynesian
We can liberate this city to Bismarck, but we'll probably make better use of it than him
    Spoiler :

T159: I lose a worker near York , an american chariot made it all the way through Celtia and I didn't notice :smoke:
    Spoiler :

:woohoo: Boudica beats off a big stack (mostly Monty's units) and gets a GG

T160: send a sword and medic chariot N from polynesian to Bibracte to help
-Second swordsman healing in Poly, we need to replace him with a city defender

-York produces a settler in 3 turns, i suggest another worker after that

-We can convert to Hindu for happiness, only London has it right now but why wait any longer?

    Maths has 6 turns remaining

remember with pholk, it's better late than never :p

nothing much happening with us. much of the fighting is taking place over bibracte. I moved a sword there to keep an eye on things.

    lost poly:

    then regained it:

    founded a new city:

staring down a sword with only two chariots in the SE :)

    and we lost our ivory

    (but it's being re-hooked.

sorry for the crummy report, but what can i say? speed over quality, that's the american way! :goodjob:

oh, and math came in and we're on to Construction

Ok, I looked at it :p
From what I could see, I am figuring to tech whatever might be good for military after construction finishes, work on necessary infra and assist in contributing units to Boudica's defense... did I miss anything?
I will play tomorrow after work, I am just too tired tonight and would probably fall asleep at the keyboard. Then who knows what would happen to our team as my cats walk across the keyboard pressing random keys while I snooze away unaware.
Any comments or recommendations you guys have between now and then would be most welcome :)

you wouldn't want any actual advice from me. Though, as a general notion, I think we need to plant some good defense in the jungle in that neck to our continent. Give our guys the XP, rather than Boudy's.

I'm sorry, guys, I meant to play tonight but when I got home I had some unexpected issues come up. I should be able to play tomorrow if that's ok. Sorry again for the delay.
