I would atempt to make both of them Vassals, however I still have no idea what they do in EU 3

Vassals cannot wage war without consent of their leader. They will receive a large relations boost with the leader kingdom. I recommend that you refrain from allying yourself with them, and waiting for ten years so you can annex them peacefully. They also give a portion of their income to you.

Vassals are good to have; make a few nations become your vassals through conquest and reap the benefits.

Argh.... Milord, why the Hell is our inflation so high? Keep the treasury slider much lower than that, we can't have our money become worthless, can we?

We would be losing a large bit of cash at first, but the yearly tax should be able to keep our economy afloat. We should pump our resources into Government (For the next National Idea I suggest "National Bank in order to curb our rampant inflation) and Land (So we can have a morale advantage over the French.

I would suggest that we refrain from constant warfare to work on our technology and colonization with a healthy economy. If we can surpass French military knowledge, we could easily overrun them in a few decades of war.

I would also say, that in my experience technology between 1450-1500 goes along at a very slow rate. Our current technologies appear to be fairly spot on.

The Largest Retreat ever in the history of Great Britain has recently occurred in the pull out from Brittany, furthermore our Naval Superiority has ended thanks to a key French victory in which all but two of our 7 ships were seized and are now in the French Navy making our attempts to regain any of our former glory almost impossible for the time being, especially since we can only afford to build three ships a year at best

furthermore we have landed 6000 troops in Denmark only for them to be crushed in a counter offensive operation... our hopes of reinforcing them were crushed shortly afterwards when our transport cogs were caught by a joint French-Danish force

I would suggest obtaining peace with the French and biding our time while we rebuild our navy. They key to our success relies on us controlling the seas.

it appears the stubborness of some people not to abandon brittany but to let the fight go on has cost us dearly however ill take the blame for the failed attack on denmark.

It is clear that we cannot win victories in mainland Europe. Our best option is to rule the seas. Build up a strong navy and colonise. Captain, I would like to request that we get one good advisor who gives us a colonist bonus, and a navy tech bonus.

Time to pull back and lick our wounds for the time being, methinks. I agree with Scamp: we should concentrate on our Navy and the Colonies. Then we can launch a new campain in Europe when we are stronger!

I built three more of the highest quality ship possible right now, add that to two leftover and we could have a shot if the french ships are damaged

the Naval War

From the Memoirs of Admiral Ambler of the French Navy

French Naval power has gone nearly a year without being challenged, however recently we received word that the Portugese were attacking our shipping just off the coast of Brittany, we decided to put a stop to it and deployed 9 of our finest ships, a large portion of whitch I had captured from the British personally

when we arrived we saw only three Portugese Carracks fighting 2 of our Cogs, however with our 8 Carracks we knew we would have a distinct advantage, just as I ordered our forces to open fire out of nowhere a large British fleet of almost 8 Carracks itself appeared and opened fire upon us, the Portugese sunk our cogs and then turned itself on our main fleet.

since we had not expected such a large engagement we had not repared our fleet in hopes of arriving in time to save our cogs from the Portugese, our fleet was sunk with ease and I hate to admit it but we have once agianst lost dominance at sea, I was lucky enough that my ship escaped however I left 8 ships at the bottom that day

My current advice is strategic: ignore the fact that france holds onto our lands in Brittany, France is simply too hard to hurt, until we've got a massive colonial Empire....

Build up a good fleet (you raised war taxes?), mass it, and use it to support landings on Norway. Destroy the Norwegians.

At the same time seize all of France's colonies, normally poorely defended, and of course hard to support from the mainland.

Once Norway has been completly taken out, begin to work on the Danes. Both these nations are quite weak.

Now at this point, you're probably able to demand something from France (alliance leader). Possibly removing their cores from your lands.

or you could get a seperate peace with norway/Denmark if you want to expand up there.

As an aside: I currently have a game where I am scotland and I own 3 provinces on frances west coast, and I don't bother defending them, i just eat up all the rest of Frances colonial holdings/her allies. [heck, by mid game I actually had large enough colonial holdings that when I got in a war with england and their alliance [Portugal, aragon] AND france and their alliance [Castille, Norway] at the same time. I abandoned Scotland, painfull I know, but managed to secure a white peace by having a merry old time seizing colonies and so on. in short, if we cannot defend it, don't. Hit something else, losing control of Brittany is tempoaray, and we can gain warscore elsewhere.

as a side note, after finding out that losing control of the seas almost cripples our empire I have come up with an idea for reform, since Kan is Chief of the Army, who's duty is to keep on my back to keep the army in good shape it would only make sense to create a new position for our navy

so I intend to create a new office, Lord High Admiral, who will be in charge of trying to prevent the accident that has occurred earlier this year.... anyone in the Navy is free to apply

and after looking at the Huron and Iroquois I have discovered they are not at war but rather have a royal marriage.... along with 7000 troops, however training shall begin soon to raise enough troops to fight them off
