Pinochet Common Misconceptions

... except for the several thousand people put into internment camps, tortured, killed, forcibly disappeared, the 23% of people who were unemployed, and the 45% of people who lived in squalor.

All communist fetishists, of course.

Starvation and being murdered by communist guerillas is preferable to you?

I support Chileno values, a free market, property rights, and a stable country. If that makes me an extremist to you perhaps you should examine your own beliefs more closely.

Going by your stances and knowing from my own experience when a country has a sudden seizure from socialist to crony capitalist I'm pretty sure you would land in the far right of the spectrum. I deal with enough of these in my family. Like them you already have an established narrative from lived experience from which you cannot step back from and evaluate critically. It's all bad and all good with you types. No shades of gray.

My God.

Not necessarly, but when someone brings up property rights and free market in every other sentence it's a pretty good indicator they're far right.

Not to mention 'Chileno values'. I mean we can go into detail and ask about what ratio of free market to regulation he prefers and his stance on social issues, but I'm mostly sure it's unnecessary considering death squads and poverty rates are casually waved away.

OP moved to the US when he was 8 and is now parroting his family's talking points because they came from the classes that were privileged and empowered by Pinochet.

What makes property rights and a free market far-right?

Yes, my relatives who were murdered at random by communist guerillas were so "privileged" and so were those who staved to death. You're vile.

Mine were too. Doesn't make fascist juntas and/or foreign destabilization and wholesale exploitation of the people acceptable.

Pinochet wasn't a fascist. He was a dictator who reinstated the free market and property rights. He also stabilized the country and put and end to the killings by communist guerillas.

Many people in Chile consider General Pinochet to be a savior.

May I suggest you stick to asking questions about topics where your knowledge is clearly lacking? After all responding to questions was the stated intent of this thread.

A regular Cincinnatus I'm sure.

I'm done as I am very familiar with the topic and have family who emigrated there, I was just curious about the extent of mental gymnastics involved. Enjoy.

lol you literally didnt even exist when other people's families were being murdered or had their testicles electrocuted, just because you're mad people were badmouthing your favorite dictator who privileged you over your fellow countrymen who were being shot or tortured

If my local government official suddenly becomes dictator of the entire country and starts lavishing me with gifts while he plunders the country and murders people outside my family, I'm certainly not foolish enough to fall in unconditional love with him because I can see that he increases the net suffering of the society.

Do you consider it to be unreasonable to defend oneself from violent communists who are denying you your rights while starving and murdering your relatives and fellow countrymen?

Sure.

It's a problem when you start throwing pregnant women out of airplanes or murdering underpaid mine workers when they go on strike.

You quoted the messages in another video of this song in the OP. Any reason for that? :)

If you're going to make hysterical accusations I suggest you source them from something reputable.

I know the creator of the video. Those are my words in his video.

Ah, a Pinochet fanboy. His daddy Franco has some here too. All them are like Siamese brothers...
