Here's a question, was there any south or central american country that didn't get screwed over by America and/or Russia?

I dont think so. But it was USA mostly as Russia had his own backyard in eastern Europe and Asia. In that sense James Monroe was basically a proctologist.

Why, did you already know about Chilean reliance on copper exports, or about the US embargo of machine parts and subsequent break-down of public transport?

Without specific details I think that pretty much everyone knows that US intervention against Allende set the stage for the barbaric Pinochet dictatorship.

The USA was on the right side of history. Pincohet stabilized the country, returned freedom to his people, and then peacefully transferred power back to a newly elected democratic government.

Of course the hard left in the USA hates this. They would prefer Chile to be like Venezuela.
