I think we have been overestimating our fellow pinochetist.

Someone should inform the Republicans who tried to impeach Nixon that they are actually secret communists.

Sorry @RomanKing, when most people hear "Pinochet", torture and murder will come to mind, because he was responsible for a whole lot of it. You cannot just hand-waive that away and then expect a rational discussion to follow.

Plenty of Congressional voting data that kind of goes against the Uni-Party idea, at least in the 70s. Drain the swamp? I heard that thrown around, apparently it means putting business insiders in charge of regulatory agencies and the most entrenched politicians to other positions. Not exactly a technocratic or populist cabinet.

It's okay. When hand-waving it away didn't work, he said they deserved it. A better alternative approach, to be sure.

They're part of the Uni-Party. What do you think "Drain the Swamp" means?

Apparently, it means filling the swamp with an assortment of swamp-delling creatures, and also actual swamp gods and swamp spirits.

For Western communist fetishists and wanna-be's who are simultaneously enjoying all of the wealth and freedom their democratic societies provide, that's certainly true, fortunately we're in information age where the lies and hypocrisy of such types is easily exposed.

When Chilenos, like myself hear the name "Pinochet," savior and freedom comes to mind.

As opposed to Pinochet's zero-party system?

As opposed to starving as a slave in squalor under a communist zero-party system?

Jesus Christ. And I bet you'd have no problem with literally getting rid of all the people whose existence makes this statement untrue. But like Himmler you'd probably vomit if any of the blood got on your clothes.

Before immigrating to Canada I served in the Chilean military. Communists do not frighten me. Our nation has already proven the strength of our resolve.

Yeah, "I'd be okay with the blood getting on my clothes" doesn't speak much better of you though sadly.

I don't imagine that, for the slave starving in squalor, it much matters whether their rulers affect to be communists or patriots, or both, or neither.

Never mind the fact that Pinochet left almost half the country under the poverty line.

Poverty and starvation is always preferable to COMMUNISM!
