Plans for DoC 1.18

Yeah I engaged with him earlier on RFC forum and it seemed like at that point he didn't even know that there are more updated versions of RFC over what was shipped with Civ4. I guess our conversation might be a reason why he came here, as I suggested he should look for someone to collaborate since he clearly does not know how to mod himself.

Expansist - it is highly unlikely that someone already working on well developed modmod is going to just drop everything and adopt you ideas. If you are looking for collaborators on implementing your map as a RFC modmod or DoC modmodmod perhaps start a separate topic that is clearly titled with what is your intentions. It could happen that someone with skills you need will decide to take your map and use it for such project. TBH though, it is quite unlikely especially given attitude you present here and reality that moders typically mod what they want to mod and take stuff from audience only in so far as they themself want such contributions. DoC already has a new map, this will just not happen. Notice no one engages with your list of reasons, that's cos the only real reason that matters at this point is that Leoreth is happy with new map and we all here are excited to see new version of the modmod on it finished.
Dear Pawlak,
Yes, game development isn't any significant part of my life, I am extremely busy Space Engineering PhD student, I was just furious how far from reality the original RFC map was, but I don't have time & energy to develop a modmod myself, I don't even have much time to post or search where to post, but I did starte a separate topic:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...-equal-area-hobo-dyer-gall-peters-map.691472/
Well, I know quite unlikely - but if I don't post probability is zero, if I do - something above zero, any positive value is infinitely larger then zero...
If you can suggest any better places to publish idea about Equal-Area map, more chances that anybody will develop such idea - please tell me, I will publish there also. Maybe within a few months - during winter holidays, as I am unlikely to have time during the semester.
Or, if anybody helps to publish & promote the ideas about an Equal-Area map anywhere it can get support - I would be grateful & appreciate it, as for me it is very difficult to even find time to write a post.
Best regards,
Expansist

Who is we.

You WILL switch your map projection, You WILL adapt all your developtment to it, You WILL waste 5 more years of your life on a cycle of pain that is working on a DoC version to work on said new map projection.

Refusing isnt an option. You MUST accept his offer, or he WILL take drastic actions.

Choose wisely, Leoreth.

You see, I am far too busy being a space engineering student to work for le Elon Musk, and dating a super model (you wouldn't know her she goes to a different school) to fix your mistakes for you. But I am far too intelligent to ignore these obvious mistakes in your mod. You see... I'm an INTJ. That means my brain notices mistakes others would never notices. I basically have a responsibility to post. I'm the only one who can make you fix this. You wouldn't understand.

This made me remember that sometime in the last couple of nights I actually dreamed that people who weren't Leoreth were posting in the Git Update Log thread. Glad to realize it was just a dream.

This idea won't get support anywhere. It's a bad idea. It would make the game worse. Your only option, if you want to see it to fruition, is to do it yourself. But I'm guessing you wouldn't attract a very large player base. Because it's a bad idea.

Dear Leoreth,
Could you please make a playable version of Dawn of Civilizations using an Equal Area Projection map? For example a map, like this:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...-equal-area-hobo-dyer-gall-peters-map.691472/
I don't care who gets the credit, totally OK if there are no mentions of me - I just want people to have adequate perception of world sizes proportion & historical process. Thank you for any help.
Best regards,
Expansist
Leoreth is never gonna do this. If you really want to see this become reality, develop this version yourself.

lmfaoooo you just made my day

Okay, we've had our fun. Let's stay on topic please, this is still the thread for 1.18 plans.

Regarding the topic - how close to 1.18 release current git version is? I presume (based on git changelogs) that in gameplay terms it's mostly done, with mostly polishing remaining.

I think i promised a succession game on the first stable version of 1.18, and i remember the promise.

any positive value is infinitely larger then zero...
I'm not sure if this is how math works.

From what it looks like at least to me, there may still be quite some things to be done until the final version release. For example, a new dynamic city names system is still not in place

Well, that's the thing though... modders typically are also quite busy people with other careers, not paid employees whose client you are. You are just using wrong approach to achieve your goal. No one cares if you are furious. Only thing that may help you do what you are trying to do is you can get other people excited. In this subforum you have a bunch of people excited about DoC modmod. If you have little time to commit to this project of yours, allocate it better. I wish you all the best with that. If you, or someone you inspire make a Equal-Area modmodmod I will likely play it, but it won't be as easy as just switching map files and no one is going to do it for you just cos you demand it. Someone might help you out if you can get them excited about this idea.

Good luck

On topic - I can't really add anything, just that I can't wait for the release, would love some update on plans...
